Turn an Empty Wine Crate Into a Stemware Holder

stemware holder made from vintage wine crates

If you’re low on cabinet space but like to entertain, you might need somewhere to store stemware like wine glasses. When I faced this challenge in my small space, I came up with this solution—transforming a vintage wine crate into a crafty new stemware holder. It’s easy and costs as little as an inexpensive bottle of wine!

Step 1

Open Galleryillustration of wine crate and hammerStart by disassembling your wine crate. Do this by pulling it apart at the nailed or stapled edges with the back of a hammer.

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4

Open Galleryillustration of drilling into wine crateCenter one wine crate piece on top of one wood piece. Drill a starter hole with your drill bit through both pieces about 2” in from each end.

Step 5

Step 6

Step 7

Step 8

Repeat for the two remaining wood sets, making sure to leave 1 3/8” between each set. Now you’re ready to pour yourself a glass of wine and let your handiwork shine!
