We’re So Handy: DIY Dissects “Weird Al” Yankovic’s “Handy”

Weird Al Yankovic Cupcake Wars

“Weird Al” Yankovic once served as the guest judge on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. See him in this episode.

“Weird Al” Yankovic released his take on Iggy Azalea’s No. 1 hit “Fancy” today with his remodeling and DIY-ing version titled “Handy.” (Hey, that reminds us of something — us!) It’s the fourth parody video released this week from his new album “Mandatory Fun.” We’ve had a little fun of our own by gathering all of the tips from DIY Network that he sings about.

He begins with, “First things first, I’m a craftsman / Remodeling is my only passion.” Hey, check out some of this HGTVRemodels action.

“I can help when your door jamb sticks,” but you don’t have to call Al, we’ve got the trick.

“I do tile, I do stone, I do bricks…” Say, like this?

“Weird Al” asks where you go when your “termite problem’s making you disgusted” and “when your front window is busted?” DIY Network can be trusted. Learn how to install a window, and see the gallery below for pesky insects and other household problems.

“I’m so handy, you already know / I’ll fix your plumbing when your toilets overflow.” DIY Network has Tips on Solving Common Toilet Problems, just so you know.

“Now you see that your furnace is needing some service.” There’s no need to be nervous. Look no further than DIY Network’s Furnace Maintenance Tips.

Maybe, “Your water pressure’s too weak / You’ve got an attic full of dry rot because your roof runs a leak.” We suggest you take a peek at Causes of Low Water Pressure and these tips on roof structure.

If “Your fridge is starting to reek / Your hardwood floors really squeak,” then check out this video, as well as this one for the tips that you seek.

“Your heating bills are shocking / I can solve that with some duct tape and some caulking.” We have many tips on Home Efficiency that will reduce those bills, and a video to help you with the caulk.

“Weird Al” finished with, “I’m so handy, you already know / I’ll beat all price quotes / my hourly rates are low.” Check out more of our DIY projects and tips to help you save money and keep you in the know.

On my off time, I love to explore this new area I’m calling home in search of great food and cool swimming holes.”
