Design a Landscape Makeover for This Cute Couple (and Their HUGE Dog)

america's most desperate landscape makeover

Jason, Connie and their dog, Mayzee, are getting an overhaul of their desperate landscape in the Texas Hill Country, and you get to help. No sweat required — all you need to do is vote.

Get out your garden gloves and allergy meds, because it’s that time of year again — time for mowing, weeding, planting AND voting in DIY Network’s America’s Most Desperate Landscape giveaway. This year, one lucky Texas couple is getting a landscape makeover, and you control the design with your votes for products and materials that will guide the renovation. Check out Jason and Connie’s totally desperate yard below (so much potential …), then go here to start voting! (Oh, and did we mention that you can also enter for the chance to win $50,000? Sweet.)

We’ll update you throughout the design process with notice of new voting rounds in the post comments, and feel free to add your own comments about the landscape here, too.

Update: Check out the before and after photo gallery below.

Hi Fabulous Landscape Makeover Team, I have a great corner block four minutes walk from the beach (you can see it from the front lawn). The only thing on it is a number of trees around the perimeter and some small garden beds near the house. Fabulous blank canvas on soil that grows every little seed that falls on it. The local plants are probably some of the most unusual you will have worked with. You would LOVE to come to my house because it is in the bang smack centre of the Universe – Wynyard, Tasmania, Australia. Pleeeeeeeze : x

At 73 yrs. young, I can't wait to get outside in the warmer weather (when?) and plant some seeds. I have no grass to mow and my corner lot is partial deck and partial garden. After Sandy hit our area and I lost a huge old pine tree, my husband and I put in a few shrubs and perennials. Everything is finally starting to get green, especially the weeds, and I'm looking forward to lots of yard work (alone) and a beautiful garden. Did some weeding yesterday and it sure helps the old bones stay oiled! Marie on Long Island
