Toolsday Giveaway: Win a Power Planer

Last Toolsday (Tuesday) we posted a photo of a curved wooden gadget with three door-stop looking things sticking out of it, and we asked you tell us what profession uses the gadget and for what.  We stumped just a few folks, a lot of you knew it was a plane used by a cooper to cut grooves into wooden barrels to fit the metal bandings.

We randomly picked two winners out of all last week’s comments and those lucky people are Lana Ryan from Covington, WA, who thought it was clamp; and Ed Sindelar from Wauconda, IL, he thought it was a sewing thread holder. You’re both wrong, but you both still win.

Next Tuesday, we will be giving away a Craftsman power planer. The 5-amp motor on this powerful little machine cuts most any type of wood fast and smooth, whether you’re just evening out a few edges or making some fancy bevel or chamfer cuts.

Do you love turning old junk into something new?  Take at look at some of these easy table projects you can make from garage-sale treasures and old stuff.  Learn how to turn an old suitcase into an end table, or how to turn soda crates into a shadow box table, and make a new coffee table out of an old door.

To win the Craftsman power planer, post a comment (click “comment” above) and tell us what profession uses this little device and for what.  You don’t have to answer correctly to win; we will randomly pick one winner.

On Tuesday, July 31, we will select the winner then start up a new giveaway for another tool, which will be given away the Tuesday after that.

You have until July 31, 2012, 2:00pm (ET) to enter to win the Craftsman power planer.

Official Rules.
