Clever Ideas for Setting the Picnic Table

A cool breeze is great for your sail, but not so much for your picnic.

Joanne Palmisano, DIY salvage designer extraordinaire and founder of the blog Salvage Secrets, made these tablecloth weights using old pillowcases, yarn and some rocks (yes, rocks).  What a stunning way to dress up an outdoor event (give it a try – here are the easy-breezy instructions).   The fringes on the weights billow in the wind providing a very festive feel  (and hopefully all that flowing fabric will keep the flies at bay). This is a great project to make with kids.  They can help collect the rocks, rip the fabric and tie the knots.

For the tablecloth,  Joanne used a red gingham flat sheet — smart. We also love the green vintage glasses and especially how Joanne used an old camper toy as part of her centerpiece to hold napkins, utensils and flowers.  How cute is that?

I agree that this is a clever idea setting. I want to try this to gable patios Perth for our small family reunion.

Not a bad idea for a picnic table. All that's left is to put up something like an aluminium marquee for some shade and in case it rains.
