To enter last week’s Toolsday’s giveaway, you had to identify an old tool with long handles and a few little gears. The majority of people thought it was a pipe cutter, but the tool is actually used to cut cattle horns. We randomly picked one winner out of all the comments and that lucky person is Ryan P., who thought it was some form of antique cutting device. Close enough Ryan. You have one week to respond to our email before we pick another winner.
Next Tuesday, we will be giving away a Bosch Power Box. This weather-resistant cube will keep you jamming and powered up. It is equipped with an AM/FM radio, satellite radio port, CD player, MP3 plug-in, and a USB port. Also, 4-way GFCI power outlets, 4-way speakers, a remote control, 12V DC adapter and it can charge Bosch 14.4V to 18V Li-Ion batteries.
To win the Power Box, post a comment (click “comment” above) and tell us what the little box pictured below is used for. You don’t have to answer correctly to win; we will randomly pick one winner.
We need some more help designing DIY Network’s Blog Cabin. This week we’re working on the waterside dock, terrace and doghouse. Please vote on our design choices then check on the progress of the renovation. In case you don’t know, we’re completely renovating a historic home on the coast of Maine. The circa 1884 home sits on 51 acres with its own private beach. When it is completely renovated, you’ll have an opportunity to win it.
On Tuesday, March 6, we will select the winner then start up a new giveaway for another tool, which will be given away the Tuesday after that.
You have until March 6, 2012, 2:00pm (ET) to enter to win a Bosch Power Box.

Definitely holds hot coals to iron clothes, etc.! So glad we have electricity now instead! We have it so easy!
hot coals go inside to heat it for ironing – prior to electricity…
I agree with most of the posters that it look like some type of old iron or something used to press garments before we had electricity.
It’s an iron
Paper press.
Old iron
Clearly an iron.
Antique clothes iron, prior to electricity when coals were put inside for heat.

Sorry folks at DIY, got to admit Barry has a good point. Enjoyed the contest but a resolution is far overdue.
Steam Iron
That looks like an old school iron!
Today is April 4th. – The contest should have ended March 6, 2012, 2:00pm (ET) . . . Enough is enough just seeing this same old brass iron over and over again. This item can also double as a door stop and people DIY should do just that and pull this contest because this is the sixth time we have gone a span with no new item. This is unprofessional of DIY and a lot of people assume the contest is still running and is leaving comments. It may also be illegal to lure people in with something that DIY does not seem to be giving away. I guess we will be seeing this item for another week that was used by Wilma Flintstone and Betty Rubble . . . for Tuesday ironing. By all means we will have to wait another week for the random pick – for the winner of the Bosch Power Box.
Hey Barry – each contest does end on Tuesday at 5pm ET. You can always find the latest contest on the DIYNetwork.com home page just below the main features in a one-line promo that says "Toolsday Giveaway" – or you can visit the main Pegboard link to see the latest contest: http://blog.diynetwork.com/tool-tips/
This week's new giveaway is a Troy-Bilt Weed Trimmer. Hope this helps and thanks,
Watson, DIYNetwork.com Manager
Many of us myself included have missed weeks of this because we assumed it was posted here and it was not.
Always an iron.
At first glance the object looked like a medieval sander or fancy tool for a bricklayer….but alas, I think it is an iron!
