  1. These gentlemen can come and take over my backyard anytime. Our backyard is in very bad condition because our sprinkler system broke and we have not had the money to fix it because of my daughter's medical needs.

    • Ditto for my home. :) So sorry about your daughter's medical needs, Leslie. We all long for the day promised, when sickness will be no more–when God's will is done on earth finally (Isaiah 33:24). Until then, you are in the thoughts and prayers of we bloggers.

  5. Does anybody know why there is no pool? I love the place. But I just wonder about installing a pool if I am lucky to win ( of course that would against all odds) lol

    • The water table is too high, perhaps.

      Iwon2014 on September 1, 2014 at 3:41 pm
    • the house next door has a pool so I doubt its the water table…I think they were just too much $$ into the project all ready (340K for the lot, 61K for the cabin + the big move…)

paradiselife on September 1, 2014 at 8:36 pm
    • Oh ok ….. with a pool all is well. the house, land, lake ,boat. Oh my … fla living at its best. Thanks …..katz

    • How do you get to see the surrounding homes?

thesear on September 2, 2014 at 7:20 am
    • Curious about the price you came up for the home when they say $900,000 home. Not real bright on these things. Thanks:D

bogartandbacall on September 2, 2014 at 5:45 pm
    • thesear go to google maps, zillow, or similar go to winter haven, FL then NW corner of the lake, there is a 5 acre lot…

bogartandbacalll, just stating their starting point…the value increased after the home was built and contents…

paradiselife on September 2, 2014 at 7:57 pm
    • Thank you helps alot- things are so complicated to me:D Home is beautiful

    • The value given for the prize is the sum of the various parts. The plot cost $370,000, the original house cost about $90,000 so that plus the move costs probably comes to close to $1/2 million. Then there's the almost total rebuild of the house which probably cost $150000 – $200,000 for the house. Add the new well, dock & landscape etc. bringing the total invested by DIY to $791,000 (the cost of the house, plot and dock). Then there's the $50,000 cash from Quicken Loans and the $50,000 Mastercraft boat. Bringing the grand prize total to $891,000.

The house value of $791,000 looks high by comparison to similar homes close by (one of which sold in May this year). This is why the winner needs to get a professional valuation (several would be better) as soon as possible after getting the keys. They may get a big surprise at the true value of the house and, therefore, the tax liability on that portion of the prize. The boat will probably remain at the value given and tax on the cash is not disputable.

This is all my opinion, not fact, and only the winner will know for sure what things are really worth. :) Good luck.

    • Thanks to you also. Love to own/live in the home and would like to make it possible and checking out avenues if the Lord's will to win it. Senior moment- big one- know add ons come in, just a senior moment but thank you for opinions. :D

    • Better to have friendly neighbors with a pool, so you don't have the maintenance. :)

ExcitedOne on September 2, 2014 at 9:51 am
    • A pool would require a fenced area too. Then there's the cleaning and treatment costs + recirculating pump etc.. Probably an 'either a dock or a pool' decision was made. Maintenance costs would be higher with a pool than the dock too although both will cost the winner in maintenance annually. There may be property tax implications with a pool also. Where we live docks & pools are taxed. The lake is free. xD:D;)

      Just guessin'. ;)

      Not long now.

      Keep Calm & Blog On.

    • Sounds like it probably was a pool-deck decision and I love the deck decision for sure-not a wrong decision. The deck is totally awesome, will be so enjoyable-lots of fun ,relaxation, watching tv, meals beautiful lights and the list can go on and for Grundy FISHING. I did not realize everything is being taxed how sad hope our lake is free and againI'm the same one who never heard of bocco. Need to get out more. Winning this home would be the answerLOL:D

  7. The yard is perfect for kids ALL ages! I have a special needs child and we can have not only friends, church family & friends, etc.,but weekend play dates enjoying the amazing yard areas just for our special kids and the community's Autistic friends, etc., to enjoy the spacious area around the house. Later in the evening parents can enjoy respite on the dock, back patio, and pergola. What a great place to expand being neighborly and engaging special community groups to share the fun of this property!

  9. Looking forward to seeing this project on TV tonight. Grundy looks like he might have his hands full with the J & J brothers. But, as always they always seem to have Fun. This entire dock and kitchen- deck project has to be the best. Great work men ! See you tonight ! ;) <3 ;) <3

  10. That two level dock is awesome! I do believe the best part of the dock are the hammocks. It gets so hot that sitting in the shade on the first level watching tv with a cold drink, grabbing a book or pillow (ha ha), and taking a nice rest sounds like perfection to me.<3<3<3:D:D:D I know we will all be entertained tonight with Jake, Joel, and my idol Chris working together to make the dock extra special.<3 Let the fun begin!!!!!

    • I wonder if they'll discuss the butt bait for the gators factor? gators are attracted to small wildlife on the edge of the water and things that buzz on the water, so if your sitting with music on does it interest them?? we have a RV sailboat club that the gator has eaten a boat….

paradiselife on September 1, 2014 at 8:39 pm
    • Count me in. I'm imagining being lulled to sleep in that hammock, listening to the water lapping below.
