Blog Cabin 2014: Best Napping Nooks Ever

I live by a set of simple principles:

1. Don’t go faster than the car in front of you.

2. Clean work boots are considered formal wear.

3. Always work hard and nap often.

I am a napping Nancy, a siesta sister, a snoozing Susan. You get the point.

While we all appreciate a relaxing master bedroom, I like to daydream in cozy corners all over the house. In my many visits to this year’s Blog Cabin 2014, I’ve been scoping out the best places to catch some ZZZs. Starting with the amazing boat dock hammock. I’d love nothing more than to be sleeping by the dock of this bay in one of these custom-napping nets. I might have to beg the winner for one quick snooze.

If I’d like a little more luxury and shade, I might move to this cushy pergola bench. After a day of swimming, I’d probably start sitting here with a good book and end up drifting off for a bit as the sun sets. I’d get someone to wake me up in time for evening s’mores at the nearby fire pit.

On weekends, I like nothing more than getting up early with a cup of coffee and the paper and then treating myself to a late morning nap. Here’s where I would be practicing that routine if I were to be the lucky Blog Cabin 2014 winner. These gorgeous chaise lounges on top of the boat deck and the view is a true work of art.

And if bad weather arrives, I won’t shed a tear. I’m already coveting the corner of this L-shaped sofa as my rainy day napping spot. Facing the television, I’d pop on a classic black-and-white movie and curl up under a soft throw blanket. Nothing lulls me to sleep like the sound of rain. To learn more about this fantastic family room, take a tour with me.

So what are your thoughts on naps? Do you tend to sleep only at night, or are you, like me, more functional after a little rest?

  1. I'm not much of a napper, Laurie, but I sure do enjoying lounging with a good book! One of my favorite all time spots is anchored in a boat, lightly bobbing up and down-a soothing comfortable motion. Plenty of opportunity ahead for that kind of lounging for the lucky BC winner! I think I would love to try out those great dock hammocks as well! Load them up with extra pillows and I could be set for hours! On a stormy day, you would most likely find me hunkered down in the upstairs sitting room, coffee concoction nearby and either another good book or knitting needles in hand. Lots of great day dreaming to come!

    • I'm thankful you mentioned the coffee spot, too. I appreciated the coffee bar HGTV had in the recent Smart Home. It's nice to see something like this in the BC, too. There are some people who just aren't morning people until they have had that first cup of coffee. Me, I am sunshine b4 a cup! Drives hub a little nuts. :) I'm looking forward to squeezing some fresh orange juice! I'm told it's the BEST.

  5. I love naps, but I don't think that I would be able to sit still long enough in such a beautiful home! If I am lucky enough to win Blog Cabin 2014, I would be touching everything from the inside out to see if I was taking a nap. Love every nook and cranny!

  8. Laurie, There are so many places to sneak away for a nap. The hammocks out at the dock are calling my name. Adding an outdoor fan or two and I'd sleep like a baby. Inside the house in the family room with the L-shaped sofa looks very comfy too. You all have outdone yourselves with this blog cabin!!! I can't wait to win it!! If I were to win, Laurie, you have an open invitation to come over for a nap anytime, just remember to let Grundy(my idol) know that he can come over and fish any time, as well.<3xD In the mean time, love and good wishes to everyone. XXXOOO

I have never lived in a house that beautiful and big before. But it gives me a lot to dream about and ideas for DIY projects of my own. I love to build and create things and have learned lots of new ways to make things with stile and flare!!!! Thank you again!

  10. What a place for naps, Laurie. I could choose a different spot every day in the Blog Cabin or one of the many outdoor spaces. They made it too inviting with comfortable areas so that a nap could happen when ever I just felt the urge. Also again many thanks for keeping us interested with these posts. Counting down the days when we can enter to win this lovely place. Happy napping everyone! my best to all, Nan <3 <3 <3 <3
