Blog Cabin 2014 Location: Clue One

A special note from Mary: I’d like to thank you for being such a fun and supportive audience. It’s been my pleasure to blog with you over the past five years. It is now time for me to move on to new adventures. Although I must bid you farewell, I leave you in the capable hands of editor Kayla, who will be keeping you updated on the latest Blog Cabin developments. Kayla loves furniture with a history, her cat, D’Artagnan, and crafting with lots of glitter. If you read HGTV’s Design Happens blog, then I’m sure you recognize her — check out her posts here. Now, let’s hear from Kayla for her very first post!

Wow — talk about a warm introduction! Hi, everyone. I’m so happy to join the Blog Cabin community and interact with you all about the soon-to-be stunning home you’re going to get to know inside and out. I’ve always had a view of the Smoky Mountains from my window, so I’ve loved seeing past homes get a taste of mountain life, too. When it comes to location, I’ll always have a soft spot for Blog Cabin 2009‘s Asheville, N.C. surroundings. Design-wise, I find myself going back to the vintage-chic, waterfront home from 2011. I just want to cozy up with a glass of wine in that great room. Before we dive into this year’s home, let’s reminisce and get to know each other. From the first home in Kinzel Springs, Tenn. to this year’s Atlantic, N.C. residence, what’s your favorite Blog Cabin?

Blog Cabin 2014 Location: Clue One

Now, let’s get right down to business. Thinking caps on. Here’s your first clue to uncover the location of Blog Cabin 2014. Take a look at the water, wildlife, foliage … what are they telling you? My lips are sealed, but I’m ready to see those comments!

Check back Monday for clue number two.

  1. OH yeah, I agree with many bloggers in that I would love to be neighbors along Seashore drive, but that comment from Kayla about "diving in" is making me lean toward the gulf. As for the hurricanes, I have lived in Florida all my life and the tracking systems have come a long way.:) Lots of love to all.

    • I am a native Floridian too !! It does look like the gulf !! As for hurricanes, I have lived thru many, (lots of them before there was any such thing as 'tracking'), you have to learn to live with them !!

    • I agree Gremol, I remember when I was very young, my parents lighting a fireplace with cast iron racks and such with battery operated radio constantly monitoring the storms(first one I recall was Donna-a bad one). Utilities down and my Mom and her coffee pot. Now there is some time to take precautions.Earthquakes, twisters etc and even hurricanes you just have to use common sense. There are all kinds of weather issues we all live with. OMG ! I am getting long-winded here just happy that the 2014 blog cabin has begun!! Once again, welcome Kayla, we are happy that you are with us.<3 xxxooo

  2. Hi Kayla, I am looking forward to your next post.
I'm sure Mary told you; Sometimes it gets difficult to follow the different threads when there are too many pages of posts.

I know you are going to keep us on our toes. I'm looking forward to the challenge.

  3. Wherever the next Blog Cabin will be, here's an idea for a DIY garden water feature!

DBCoop on November 17, 2013 at 5:32 pm
    • LOL That looks like someone fulfilled their fantasy of bringing the fabric of a throw pillow to life:o

Mel on November 17, 2013 at 6:06 pm
    • That is crazy.

      vicki_in_Utah on November 17, 2013 at 6:07 pm
    • I hope that is fake grass because there is no way a lawn mower would work.
      I personally, Love it!

      Eugenia27 on November 17, 2013 at 8:04 pm
    • Doesn't look too safe for a party with liquid refreshments! ^_^

EdinOregon on November 18, 2013 at 2:58 am
    • LOL! My thoughts exactly, Ed. Posted sign should read: "All guests must wear life jackets."

DBCoop on November 18, 2013 at 10:33 am
    • And if that conversation pit doesn't have a sump pump, it could turn into a not so hot tub! ^_^
I wonder if the "must wear life jackets" warning, would free one from liability in CA?

  4. I hope it's someplace different. My favorite cabin was Maine. I wish I had won that one. I always wanted to live in Maine. I am clueless about this one.
