A Detail You Will Totally Dig

Blog Cabin 2013 Yard Drainage System

While we wait for the winner announcement, I thought I’d share an interesting tidbit about Blog Cabin 2013 and the yard drainage system that keeps the home high and dry.

As you know, Blog Cabin 2013 has stood on the same spot for more than a century. And surprisingly the site has suffered little to no erosion. So as part of an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy, project manager Dylan Eastman was careful to maintain the home’s original roof size. For added assurance, project contractor Ryan Crosser of Andrew Roby Construction built a subterranean drain system under the eaves to collect roof runoff and carry it through 300 feet of buried piping to a natural ditch that can handle the excess water.

Pretty nifty, yes? You may not have the wherewithal to create your own subterranean drain system, but a French drain is a pretty easy feature to install and does wonders to draw water away from structures. For those in need of how-to help, please check out DIYNetwork.com’s own French drain installation and yard drainage system projects. HGTVRemodels.com zeroes in on the topic with a focused feature on basement drainage solutions and natural stormwater management techniques.

    • Thank you Lessie! Hope you are having a great evening with that beautiful baby!

At first I thought it was going to be you….remember Laurie said " babies sleeping on laps in the yard" or something like that? All I could think of was you.

I am sad for sooooo many others that wanted this beautiful home on the beach to be called theirs…..as much as I did, and you as well. I hope everyone is as HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY as we are for the winner and wish them the best times of their lives at the BLOG CABIN!^_^

amberPA on October 8, 2013 at 10:29 pm
    • So glad I won the Blog Cabin even if it was temporarily in your thoughts, Amber. LOL! I know many must grieve before moving forward and that's ok. Just don't want them to grieve too long and miss their blessings in other areas.

Lessie on October 8, 2013 at 11:36 pm
    • I agree Lessie…..and I think you are truly a blessing here on the posts! You have always been positive! Have a wonderful day!^_^

    • I'm loving this dream even though I haven't been called. The excitement for this blog cabin reminds me of the end of regular season excitement about the Ravens winning the Super Bowl. If you want magical, you've got to experience the electricity in the air and an unfounded certainly that victory was possible despite all odds. So glad to have experienced that. It was truly awesome!!!

Lessie on October 7, 2013 at 10:10 pm
    • That sounds awesome. I am enjoying the excitement also. It will be interesting to see who the winner is.

  10. Just because a person has not blogged for awhile, does not mean they won. C'mon folks, let's be patient. Quit discouraging all those people who are still dreaming, and hoping for a miracle. That's is just like trying to figure out the Powerball winner.

Builder on October 8, 2013 at 8:34 am
    • I can't figure out how to win the Powerball but I certainly know what I would do with it! xD

lucyourdog on October 8, 2013 at 9:27 am
