    • I thought it was such a great idea to share the history of the cabin, and allow those to choose by vote for the décor of the cabin. I watched DIY staff build the house, and I never laughed so hard , as they were so humorous. When I saw the final product, I was in awe, from the inside of the home, to the great out doors. Good luck to all who entered, and may the winner enjoy this spectacular rebuilt blog cabin home!

  3. I want to thank everyone who joined me on the end of the dock for a last supper. I know I will have to thank the new owner for all the hours of enjoyment I have had in their blog cabin.
Whom ever wins this home, will be so blessed. Congratulations to: who ever you are.

Thank you DIY and all your crews and everyone who had anything to do with this wonderful home.

    • Eugenia, I definitely enjoyed my time on the dock last night. Love the restoration, renewal, and healing when listening to the water. This home is an awesome retreat site.

    • It was great, I think I had one too many glasses of virtual wine.

I think I might sneak onto the deck and have my morning coffee until they name the winner. :)

    • Well, now that you have started blogging, you will find it is such a joy to have such a great group of people to chat with. We all have one thing in common. The love of restoring older homes, to see something on the brink of destruction, brought back to life. You couldn't have found a better group to start blogging with. (IMHO) In My Humble Opinion.
      Welcome to the blog

  4. Thanks DIY for a great 2013 Cabin. Kudos to all involved and hope to see as many of you as possible on CabinCam next season. 'Enjoy' collecting and checking all those entries. I'm not sure I would want that job. Too much like hard work. :D

Please, please let us have a return of the live cam like this year it was so much fun. B)

Now, where will the next Blog Cabin be located? ;) xD

Clive on September 13, 2013 at 5:11 pm
    • I'd be thrilled if they found a place somewhere in our "neck of the woods", Clive.

If you got your entry in, I wish you and your's all the luck in the world.

      'Til next time.

DGustaf on September 14, 2013 at 10:59 pm
    • Hi Don. Yes to 'Our neck of the woods' maybe literally in our woods ;) . The entry went in according to family protocol – Draw a date and time from a hat then enter at that time. Lucky dances and incantations to accompany it. Stay safe and 'enjoy' the Fall.

It seems we're entering Fall today, just in time for the home opener at Lambeau. That will keep the multitude of Cheeseheads happy ;) . We were at 92 early in the week, now 52 today. Hopefully the salmon will be running soon if we stay cool. That's always a fun time even if it can lead to a sore arm from hauling them in. :p Good luck.

    • Go Pack.:)

Holidaygal on September 15, 2013 at 3:30 pm
    • Glad to hear that you did your best lucky dance; good luck.

Last week the northern part of the state had a frost warning, while 90 was hit elsewhere in the state.

I've never fished for Salmon; I usually fish for Walleye, but I've fished Rainbow Trout, Bass, Crappie and other pan fish.

DGustaf on September 15, 2013 at 7:55 pm
    • Hey Clive, I haven't seen you on the Blog and was wondering if you saw my post about the house next door being listed for 375k, the one that listed last year for 1.5m. Address is 470 seashore if you want to peek.

    • Hey Clive and DGustaf, are you guys up in the Wisconsin area? Sorry to butt in on your conversation….. I adore Rhinelander area. Had a great time in the Cranberry bogs. Saw the H o edag and met some great people. But geeze the weather can turn on a dime. Fantastic place for a Cabin. But the bears might be a problem?? OK I'll let you two get back to your conversation. Hokiemom

    • What is a bear or two among friends.

      Eugenia27 on September 15, 2013 at 5:47 pm
    • Not a thing Eugenia, there should always be beer among friends.

    • Clive is in Wisconsin, and I'm in Minnesota; not too close to one another, but not all that far. Our desire for a BC up here in the north country has been long standing. We have lots of beautiful scenery, many wonderful activities, many great contractors and some of the HGTV/DIY talent are from here. YES,,,, our weather can "turn on a Dime", but that is part of the charm; we have all four seasons (and, can see days from all of them in the same week).

You were not interrupting a private conversation, it is an open blog.

DGustaf on September 15, 2013 at 7:41 pm
    • ;) All true Don. I believe we sometimes get all 4 seasons in 24 hrs. or close to that. :D

Glad the Ho dags are alive & well Hokiemom. We have a breeding colony of Bigfoot (should that be Bigfeet?) too. :) Plenty to keep the cabin planners amused and on their toes.

Salmon from the 'Big Lake' can be fun together with the steelhead in the spring. One of my 'hot' spots for them is the river flowing through the parking lot at Miller Park. It's sad the Brewers will not be in the post-season this year but the upside is that I can fish in the parking lot much earlier in the season if the fish are running. Salmon fishing 500 ft. from where Hank Aaron's 755th (and last) home run landed is something special. xD

Clive on September 15, 2013 at 9:00 pm
    • O!M!G! Salmon?????? YUM!!! I could eat salmon for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I guess my Finnish roots are showing……. Lets hope for a cabin in the north. It is about time!!! JA!

Ashtabulannie on September 15, 2013 at 9:43 pm
    • Don & Clive are there any links or videos you guys could post to the blog showcasing a nice spot for the BC in MN or WI ? I think sharing great vacation destinations is a good thing for us bloggers to do!

I posted a video link to the blog showcasing the wild Mustangs of the Outer Banks of NC in 2011— in 2013 we have a home close to those wild Mustangs! Coincidence? Perhaps, or perhaps it got DIY looking into the coast of NC?
I'm just lovin' that DIY has given us a chance to win such a beautiful home on the Crystal Coast and one that is close to those beautiful wild Mustangs of the OBX :)

  6. To be honest, prior to the 2013 Blog Cabin I have never been a blogger. I have to say, it's been a lot of fun. Reading everyone's blogs and conversing has given me a chance to escape from the norm ! Good Luck to everyone ! Thanks to everybody at DIY and Matt and the many others that made it all possible. Thanks to all the bloggers for making it that much better ! Best, Keith

    kdiver64 on September 13, 2013 at 5:35 pm
    • Good luck to you also.
Please stick around. in one short month we will be guessing where the next Blog Cabin will be located. It is so exciting to see the next cabin that is crying out to be saved and watching it being brought back to life. If it wasn't for DIY these great historical homes would crumble to nothing.
It is so great that we bloggers get to have a part in choosing what will be used in these homes.

    • You can count on it. I have had such a great time conversing. Everyone has been great ! In a world where there is so much chaos it's nice to know I can come to a place where everyone's happy !

    • Keith, this Blog had become one of life's uniquely special delights to me. What great friends I've made and what impish trouble we've gotten into at times–how worth it–for those of us facing second childhoods, such as I. You are far from THAT, of course, however being young, you can inspire us over the hillers' to boldly forge ahead and do mischief and then laugh at ourselves. Such fun! :D So glad you've joined us. Shortly, we'll have our clues and then a place to begin nipping at and studying. We true bloggies don't stop, but keep the ball rollin' for this is truly a year-round game, well worth the friendships, mutual encouragement ,laughter and enjoyment! Ahoy there Mateys! I see fun on the horizon!B);):p^_^ Kitty

    • Kitty, I might look young but i'm pushing 50. I have a 13 year old son Jake that has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. When he was 4 he drowned in our swimming pool. If I didn't know CPR he wouldn't be here today. I did 8 cycles of CPR before he came back. My oldest son Bryan 26 went to college and got a Doctorate Physical Therapy. Mostly because of his brother Jake. While Bryan was at college he contracted a case of Rheumatic fever and almost died. A friend said to me the Lord only gives you what you can handle. I said my plate was full. I guess what i'm trying to say is that I feel over the hill. MY 9yr old daughter Jenna is sucking the life out of me and she doesn't give it back. LOL ! But life is good ! When you think you have it bad someone has it worse. It's nice to come to the blog and chill. The horizon looks beautiful doesn't it ? people like you make it even more beautiful !^_^<3<3

      kdiver64 on September 24, 2013 at 10:07 pm
    • Oh, Keith! I could possibly be your mother and I wish i could give you a huge hug! Thank you for your courage to open up to me and us Bloggies. With more time, you'll begin to see us ole Faithful ones, who stay all year. We're the ones who uphold , laugh and cry with one another. Some of us believe in the power of prayer, others, struggle right now, with where is God, when the good and the innocent seem buffeted far worse than the most evil ones, whom we've fought in wars recently or who've marched into purported safeplaces, and snuffed out, and terrorized those innocents who were simply walking by or attempting to do their jobs. Your family surely has suffered immensely, Keith! my heart breaks for you and your precious Ones! Do you have Facebook? Would you consider becoming a Friend? I'm i think that's how it works…or just plug in my name. Not exactly the same disease or how the circumstances turned out, but amazingly similar end results in my nuclear family, my friend. My Niece and Nephew's 1st born son has Asperger's syndrome, which, it turns out runs in my family, but some people, including my Mom and 2 of her brothers, all brilliant in their day, showed those traits; then, same niece's 2nd son was born missing lower lobe portion and part of cortex of my grand nephew's brain… When they thought all was well with their 3rd, 2 yr. old son, he slipped out–and fell in the pool. Like you, in deep side over 10 min. CPR and God's intervening breath of life came. That grand nephew somehow, was totally healed, while his big brother will always be like, perhaps a 6-7 year old nephew. Not exact, but surely, I kind of understand a tad of your pain. Hubby Gary and I both Battled cancer this year–he got a fine new nose. I was told and preparing for imminent death sentence , but by God, was miraculously healed. I don't know why Jesus did that for me, Keith. My gorgeous 42 year old daughter lives with Gary and me, totally disabled, with schizophrenia. Life is so puzzling. If i can be a friend to you and yours, Here I am~~I really care~~your precious ones aren't alone. And yes, I believe God gave us tear ducts for a reason~~ and His Bible states that He has a Bottle for each of our tears, and that's where He keeps them, for they are precious, each, to Him. So are you! Even when we don't feel that way! Would be SO HAPPY for your Family to WIN the BC!! STAY with us on the Blog too, afterwards, we have a good time and make up our fun as we go! (((HUGS)))B)^_^<3 Kitty

    • Kitty, I didn't take offense to your comment. I thought it was kind of funny ! I read one of Michele's blogs. She has been trying for five years with no luck . That why I said she must be frustrated . It would be nice to win the BC 2013 but I wouldn't be upset if I didn't . I don't think she feels the same way, and that's ok. I myself never expect to win the BC with so many entries. 18,649,549 that's crazy ! but it's 18,649,549 with a dream. I wouldn't expect to win with only (2) entries. LOL ! I don't have a Facebook. I know so many people that have had problems. I'm on Change .Org and will gladly give you my email. I'm glad to hear you and Gary are ok. You're right, Life is puzzling. It sounds like you and Gary have had your share of suffering as well ! If there is ever anything we can do to help, you need only ask. <3 Keith

    • You're right, Keith. I thought I was being silly, but now that I read myself again, I don't like the way I said it. I apologize, Michele, how I said that came out snarky and I didn't mean it that way~~Please forgive me! :( I should've taken your question more seriously and introduced you to the Blog. It is us! And YOU, if you will join us. We joke around, we also encourage one another, we even make up Bloggie parties, virtually; we pray for those who ask, we laugh at ourselves and with others, we dream, we imagine–and we exchange research about the new Blog Cabin location, soon as we figure it out. Some of us write stories–and we've had some doozies! They're still posted, at least the crazy ones we conjured up in Maine's BC 2012. That one was so funny, some of us were literally rolling on the floor, laughing so hard, no kidding!!! If anyone wishes to find those, some of us, either, Mel, Myself, who else was into our stories? can go back and try to lead you to them. One was definitely a Christmas one, written by Mel and Myself, I think, mostly–we were rescuing Mary (at all times–that was the theme and inspiration) for she kept going MIA, so we had to figure out HOW! LOL Side splittin' FUN!:p:DxDB) Kitty

Lessie on September 14, 2013 at 2:28 pm
    • Lessie – From your words to GOD's ears! Preparing for one of my surgeries. Need a hip replacement first. Then the right knee. I refuse to have my spine operated on. I will continue taking meds & getting injections. Everyone I know ends up in worse shape after spine surgery. Long story short – I was crushed in a bad car accident when I was young & was suppose to be crippled. TA DA!! I wasn't!! But, I am paying the price big time now in my mid-fifties. Life goes on though… B)

StellaF on September 14, 2013 at 3:20 pm
    • I'm glad to hear you are putting off the spinal surgery. They do a procedure in Germany that is suppose to be wonderful. Unfortunately any medical insurance you have here in America won't pay for the procedure that and you have to travel to Germany. If your back is bad enough to even be thinking of going there, you know, there is no way your back could stand the trip.

In my dreams where magic is possible, I win a lottery and we can teleport my husband to Germany for the surgery.
Life goes on, and as long as you can enjoy what you have you will never be disappointed.

      Eugenia27 on September 15, 2013 at 5:55 pm
    • Stella, I so feel for you! You are MISSED when you cannot be here, but we understand. I also live with crushing, stabbing pain, so I know. I will not subject myself to what I've seen proven time after time fail many friends:spinal surgery. Then I sometimes have the opposite, that is, I go numb and "have no legs" so I suddenly fall. Do yoe experience that? I pray that your hip surgery goes well. And good luck with Blog Cabin! Nice to see you Post–i haven't for a while! :D ^_^<3 Kitty
