  1. Honestly I think the first thing I would do is try to figure out if it was for real or an elaborate practical joke! Once it sunk in I'm sure there would be screams, tears of happiness and phone calls to family and friends! Atlantic is just a couple of hours away so I would be there almost as soon as I heard I won. Because we are so close we would get a lot of use out of the cottage all year long. My family loves the beach in all seasons…from doing a puzzle or reading on cold blustery days, sitting on the porch talking and listening to the ocean on a long summer evening, building sand castles and catching sand fiddlers, to surf fishing in the Fall followed by an Outer Banks Broil for dinner with the catch of the day…you just can't have a bad day at the beach! Being able to enjoy these activities in our own home instead of a rental every couple of years would be AWESOME! I can't wait! Choose me, choose me!

  2. OMG! Thank the good Lord, move in, and then cannonball off the dock into the prestine salt water. What a memory that would be. Love, love, love this house and I need it bad!

  3. Call my Mama and go to Winston-Salem to pick her up. Then we would drive to New Bern and enjoy! I live in AZ but am originally from NC. Since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of having a house at the beach.

Several years ago, my then husband and children's father lost his job. We had some very hard times and my Mom really helped me. If it had not been for her, my children and I would have been on the street. Being able to share something so wonderful with her would be totally awesome!

  4. The first thing I would do when my family and I arrive at this fantastic home is walk up this wonderful rock path of the east entry and enter the house as Laurie does in the video! Then as I enter each room, I want to take the time to embrace all the history and treasures in each room and the reclaimed wood touches throughout the house. This will be like opening a box full of jewels and admiring the special characteristics of each one. I want to shout "ye–ah" in the media room as Grundy did to test the sound proof walls and walk out on the terrace to look though the telescope to look for dolphins in the water and pelicans on the peer. Then down to the waterside porch and down the winding pebble path to relax under the pergola to absorb the coastal view. Then go sit on the pier and make up my own song as Grundy and Josh did! Before sunset I want to make sure to be on the waterside porch to view the amazing sunset from the table and I want to do a rain dance on the porch however I will be dancing for joy!! After the sun goes down, I would like to enjoy a nice warm fire by the fire pit, sharing stories and laughing with family and friends. Of course, there will be no time to unpack bags on this first day at the Blog Cabin, that will have to wait until tomorrow! So many wonderful things to do!!

  9. If I won, the first thing I would do is thank my lucky stars, then call a financial advisor and find out if I can somehow keep it. I'm retired and cannot afford the taxes (fed, state, real estate, etc.). I would have to sell it, most likely, but first I would go there and enjoy a nice long vacation in paradise!

    • Well if you could somehow close on the house after the first of the year (2014) you could live free (except for property taxes, and insurance which you would already have if you currently owned) until taxes were due in April 2015.

  10. When I win, I'll take the most expensive bottle of wine I can afford to the front porch, where my husband and will sit in the rockers and toast to the most amazing view and our incredible lives. I think we'll sit out there for hours just watching the water.
