  1. The first thing I would do is, Be thankful for the opportunity to have such a wonderful home to share with my family and that my husband and I grow old together. This would be a dream come true for me. I am a child care center director and I have worked all my life and dreamed that at retirement that we could live at the coast.

  2. explore the house….explore the property…start up the grill and remain in utter shock while everyone begins to arrive to share our new home !

  3. Wow….what to do first? I'd have to touch everything to make sure it's real for starters then I'd walk around the yard & check out the fabulous views from the dock! Of course all this would be after I get over the shock of winning it!!!!

  4. If I won, before I used the Blog cabin for myself and family; I would try to get approval to open up the home to share with the contestants of the contest. Think it is only fair that 365 families had a chance to see and feel the beauty of the hard work everyone on the DIY team put into making it. It sure was a lot of work and none of us could have pulled off what they did in such a short time. After a year, then my 6 grandsons & I would get to enjoy it, without feeling guilty.

    • So sorry. Considering the effort to get one, it does seem that they should be solid, doesn't it?

      lulubelle13 on September 8, 2013 at 1:28 pm
    • yes, it sure does!

COOLSMILEY on September 8, 2013 at 2:01 pm
    • perhaps we should investigate a shipwreck off the Coast then?

COOLSMILEY on September 8, 2013 at 1:27 pm
    • I used to do that quite often. The historical wrecks there, of which there are many, are great dive sites. They become a habitat to the critters and sharks. Do you dive?

      lulubelle13 on September 8, 2013 at 1:29 pm
    • I don't know if u would call it dive but I :o nce in Fl. with spears for some kind of small lobster in the Keys (in the 70s) Scuba in Aruba once with tanks but not TOO deep , had my young children with me at the time so one was freezing and when I thought we saw a shark I flipped and was pushing him back onto the boat, then some snuba in Aruba as well, that was beautiful all kinds of rainbow colored fish in the clearest, cleanest water I have ever seen. When I flew home to NY next day, found out the hard way about depth under ocean to altitude not a bright idea for the ear! Had owned 3 seater jet skis and loved riding around on them, feels safer than a motorcycle being on the water to me! I read your a shark fan, me not so much, I have swam with the manatees in Florida, they are too cute. I do relish the idea of finding treasure in the water though. I love boats, sailing, jet skis, swimming, fishing and eating them ;) Boy, I miss not having the means anymore.

COOLSMILEY on September 8, 2013 at 1:59 pm
    • Lulu you can keep the sharks they scare me but I like to snorkel. Maybe we need a glass bottom boat…flat and shallow. Snorkeling was all in Florida Keys which I love or use to.
Time marches on and we get older and dream more. However I love to look for treasure so back to the Island . We could put up tents in the BC yard. ????????????????????????

Straybird on September 8, 2013 at 2:26 pm
    • I would definitely give it a whirl, might bring back some of our young girl!

COOLSMILEY on September 8, 2013 at 2:48 pm
    • Wow this would be so much fun! It would be about a 7 1/2 hr drive for me and I would bring Bella (my Golden) and a tent and oh yes some good wine and cheese.

Straybird on September 8, 2013 at 2:54 pm
    • COOLSMILEY on September 8, 2013 at 3:02 pm
    • No Uninvited Serpents or Sharks. Lulu will take care of the sharks. Where are you Lulu?

Straybird on September 8, 2013 at 3:08 pm
    • Right now? Inland…..

      lulubelle13 on September 8, 2013 at 4:24 pm
    • sounds like a plan!

COOLSMILEY on September 8, 2013 at 5:43 pm
    • Did someone say wine and cheese? Maybe I will sleep on the ground then.

      lulubelle13 on September 8, 2013 at 4:24 pm
    • Nothing to see when snorkeling in NC Straybird. Not much of a tent girl. Very outdoorsy normally, but I draw the line at sleeping on the ground.

      lulubelle13 on September 8, 2013 at 4:23 pm
    • Sharks have no interest in eating people. Apparently we don't taste good to them. They are very serene. The only time I have seen them become interested in a diver is when the diver was carrying freshly speared fish. And even then, a bop on the nose sends them away. I love them somehow.

Diving in NC is big girl diving, rather advanced. As for treasure, you won't find any on the wrecks within recreational depth limits, they have long since been picked clean. Except for the Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeard's ship, which is protected.

I am taking a…um…break from diving a the moment. But I miss it terribly. It is my favorite hobby. Click on my profile picture, that is me offshore on a historical wreck called the Naeco, and a Sand Tiger right behind my head. Last summer.

      lulubelle13 on September 8, 2013 at 4:21 pm
    • Are you doing okay? Sorry you are grounded. I am not familiar with the water in NC or the sharks there. : ( no snorkeling, no reefs. ???? How clear is the water at the BC?

Straybird on September 8, 2013 at 4:45 pm
    • Any day I draw breath I am doing OK, right? Too public of a forum to get into it here, give me an email if you wish? I'll need it anyway when I throw the party. Our water is green/blue, and rarely clear. But BC is on the sound, not the ocean, so you wouldn't get waves and turbulence there, but I would imagine it is much the same as on the ocean. No reefs, so no snorkeling. There are some ledges way offshore that people will go to spear fish, but they are deep, so still no snorkeling. Every once in a while the ocean will be translucent, and you can see the bottom, but still wouldn't see much snorkeling except for the local marine traffic.

    • Someone didn't like my comment about the Gold Medal? I'm sorry ;) . But I was just speaking the truth before Smiley got her hopes up about selling it in order to pay for blog cabin. And bro really does have one.

We'll take up a collection for the taxes if you win Smiley.

    • How do you know someone didn't like your comment? Why do they keep zapping you? This is the first time I have ever blogged and it is fun to read. I have learned a lot about BC reading the blogs. I wanted to win the Smart Home but I like this home more. Is it safe Blog Cabin to put my e-mail address on here? All new to me ????

Straybird on September 8, 2013 at 7:51 pm
    • I think when you have a profile on here, your comments automatically start at a +1. Someone is following all of my comments around and adding a -1. Which would be fine if they were expression of opinion, or something that someone might not like. That is what that function is for. To keep everyone polite and respectful. It doesn't matter. But it is giving me flashbacks to another time when I had a "follower".

I wouldn't put an email up here. It is a public forum I think, visible to anyone on the internet. We will have to figure out a way to connect when you come up here. Too bad there isn't a "private" messaging system here.

      lulubelle13 on September 8, 2013 at 9:03 pm
    • dele, I'm 'un'-dinging you as I can, don't know why someone was giving you a thumbs down. Makes no sense. We've had some trolls stroll through our threads here, pay them no mind.
I enjoyed reading your comments. I'm not entering for BC, but I'm still a huge fan.
And since I'm not entering, I can't honestly answer this GGGiveaway to win the corn hole game, phooey!
So, what did your brother win GOLD for in '96? Whatever is was, that is so cool.

    • Hi, LLB here, I deleted my account. I had a stalker for quite some time, both online and in real life, and that behavior game me the willies. So I'm out. WCG,Swimming! We are all little fish in the family. But bummer about the family trip to Atlanta. I mean, ATLANTA? Really?

LLB on September 8, 2013 at 10:01 pm
    • My husband was able to go to Atlanta for some of it, he has a brother there.
      Swimming, great sport!
But, yeah, Atlanta . . . could have been a better locale, but gold is GOLD!
I know your whole family is still proud for him.

    • We were all there. But he was SUPPOSED to make it in 1992, for Barcelona. The thing I hated most was that the very DAY of his last event was when the bomb went off, so he never got to just relax and enjoy the Olympic Village.

  9. Moving away from NC after 12 years and countless trips and memories at the beautiful NC coast I'd happily move back 'home' and live out my days. As lovely as this cabin is, I'd probably still set up the old tent on the beach every once in a while though :)

Kevin Ramkissoon on September 8, 2013 at 11:08 am
    • Totally. Across the waterway, on the uninhabited island.

  10. Start packing. On arrival at blog cabin, I would crack open wine or a brew to watch the ocean.
