  2. Congratulations to Molly; it is such a beautiful bedding set in a favorite shade of blue.
Mary–I can't find my last post –which was admittedly lengthy— but as you ask what we particularly love about this place–besides the obvious, I'd have to say it has so much to do with the fact that DIY had Mr. Eastman in charge of every thoughtful facet of the project. I mentioned in my last post about the many things bloggers asked for over the years that are finally realized here in BC 2013, and I am so grateful for that.

    • LLColeman YOU are SO right about that!! I've felt like this is the home the bloggers built. There really is a ton of things in this build I've asked for and other bloggers have asked for over the years. I've even felt the location was picked out in part due to stories written on this blog about pirates and us talking like pirates in past years to each other!!
I know I could be so wrong in my assumptions but I feel the same way that you do, and that is Mr Eastman really listened to the blog and built a home full of blogged requests he was keeping track of.
I know they have built a home my eyes and heart have fallen in love with. My brain knows better, 'cause the chances of winning are tiny…but I can't help it!…. this year they built my dream beach home.
Sorry for this hasty reply…not written in the best form, but my time is so limited right now…anyway I just wanted you to know I really, really agree with you :)

    • Today me watched a double featurrre of repeats…Matty and Grundy buildin' the outdoorrr kitchen–when Grundy mentioned Blackbeard and walkin' the plank, and Matty started to talk like a pirate…then on Nat'l. Geographic Channel a show called 'Diggers' had 2 hearties arrrmed with metal detectors tryin' to find Blackbeard's arrrghh-tifacts in the Carolina coast soil (no luck–the booty remains safely hidden) . So– Here's to the weekend as we lift ourrr tankards of grogg, Lass!

  5. Congratulation molly. I have to say it that you deserve it.

rony on August 31, 2013 at 12:52 am
    • Hi Rony, sounds like you know Molly! If she deserved it, so very glad it is hers. : – )
From her entry comment it sounds like she will do justice with her prize. If you can contact her, tell her she has many congrat's waiting here for her.

  6. Congrats Molly, I love the idea of using refurbished old things like furniture and excessorys. We love our antiques and love using what is ever available. We have a nephew whos wife refuirbishes old beds into benches and other items she turns into things that are useful. Molly you are so lucky! Enjoy!

  7. Anyone know were the driveway and garage is?

Patti on August 31, 2013 at 6:41 pm
    • Hi Patti, the driveway is on the east side of the house, can't see it for the trees unless you go to the east porch view and spin your view around to the east. (East is on the right side of the house as you look at it from the water side)
Alas, there is no garage, too costly and too many spec's to meet.

Wind Chime Girl on August 31, 2013 at 9:34 pm
    • Thank you for your response. Is to costly because the prize had a limit? Or is it going to be to costly for the winner.

Patti on September 3, 2013 at 11:21 am
    • That depends on the winners financial situatioin. A permanent, full garage conforming to all the local regulations for structure, flood resistance etc. may well be quite expensive (it was too much for the DIY team budget). However, a simple carport with open sides and a canvass roof would be easy and not require regulations. If you're looking for sheltered storage for garden impliments etc why not consider a closed trailer. It can keep things secure under normal conditions and be easily removed to a safer location inland if a big storm threatens. No regulations for that either. ;)

Clive on September 3, 2013 at 12:26 pm
    • Cool solution Clive, also most are large enough to get a riding mower in,mmmmmmmmmm.:)

      540sam on September 3, 2013 at 3:05 pm
    • Thank you again for the response, your idea for carport and trailer would work.

Patti on September 3, 2013 at 4:40 pm
    • Hi, Patti,
What Clive said . . . also the remodel pretty much turned into a re-build for DIY so they were probably way over budget as it was. There was a lot of discussion in previous threads about all the restrictions on outbuildings in the area and there are many.
      Good Luck!
