Coaster Set Winner Announced

Hi all,

I am pleased to announce that Sandra Drayer (screen name SID) is the winner of our first Blog Cabin 2013 Gimme Gimme Giveaway. She is the proud new owner of our reclaimed wood coaster set. Don’t forget to stop by on August 9, when we launch our next giveaway, the complete bedding set used in the master bedroom.

Today’s cinemagraph, courtesy of visual designer Jason Kisner, highlights the home’s amazing outdoor spaces. Enjoy!

  4. Quote for the day: For most of history, man has had to fight nature to survive; in this century he is beginning to realize that, in order to survive, he must protect it.”
    ? Jacques-Yves Cousteau

Thank you DIY for preserving the history of this beautiful home. It is sad that you could not save it but it is so beautiful how you kept it alive by re-using a lot of it!!

    Much Love!!!!! <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

    • Very good thought Rebecca. I know DIY tried hard to preserve the home. But at least they saved alot of the memories.

    • Thank you Rebecca. We need to remember that we are on a constant battle in trying to reverse some of the damages we've caused our mother earth. Everyone must make an effort whenever possible to collaborate.

    • From Topsail Island, NC : the Oceana 2013 Ocean Heroes award goes to Jean Beasley, who started a sea turtle rescue in her backyard and has gradually expanded to a huge new facility. ( Sadly, it does not have space to accommodate all the turtles needing help these days) :

    • I love what the DIY guys did with the old place; it is soooo inspiring!!! :) — it makes me want to start my own “home recycling“ project, tooo!!!. The charm of this old, yet mystical home was merely preserved in a way that fits today`s modern feel. The home is beautiful and the winner will be enchanted for years to come!!!!

  9. Jason,
Love the pics! I've taken pics of uprooted trees, too. I thought people would think I was CrAzy for doing so…but there's beauty in them. Thanks for adding it to the other beautiful water & evening dock pics. :) Is this the tree that the base of the coffee table is from?
