    • I came back to this blog to see if HuntingQuarters was posting here, just odd that he dropped off the face of … well, I don't want to think of that being the case. Hopefully just busy.:)

  3. I know we're all kind of wondering if HQ was asked to leave. I don't believe that's the case, but if so I guess I should speak up for all of us and say we weren't threatened or anything like that. HuntingQuarters made us stop and think about the people who lived in that beautiful home before, all the years before it became the modern beauty it is now. We also have learned that the people of the area have a long loving history in the area. If were to guess they are hoping there's not going to be rude, disrespectful drug using loud people taking over their little peace of heaven. I for one have to say I don't blame them, if that is the case. Who wants to think an area their family has fished in,raised families in and perhaps have grandchildren visit could be taken over by the above. Therefore, whomever wins it, please keep this in mind. If people seem cold to you, warm up to them, show them you're going to be an asset in their 'peace of heaven'.

    • Oh Nanwes, I don't think you would be heard on 3.5 acres. You would have to be REALLY ROWDY but then again I guess anything's possible!! Im pretty sure I pushed him off the edge but all I could do was apologize. I'd stretch out a hand but my computer only has stupid faces, NO HANDS!! =/

    • I noticed there were no Florida winners this go around. Ever hear whether that ZefferHills (not spelling right) shared her winnings with the woman who let her go ahead of her? I think it'd been nice if she had, but I'm sure she's doing good things with that money, even if you look at the taxes she paid, that's going into a lot of programs benefiting a lot of people.

nanwes on August 8, 2013 at 9:08 am
    • I never heard if she did however she donated 2 million to her old H.S. in Maine for a NEW ROOF and bought herself a million $ Home in Jacksonville, wonder if it was in the SMART HOME community??

  5. 1. Congrats to SID for winning the coasters, I hope you enjoy a little piece of BC13!
    2. Keep an eye out for more BC13 giveaways including my design board from one of the shows and a unique game project from Grundy!
    3. Taxes for the house are a composite of federal, state, and local. None of which the network has any control over.
    4. Outbuildings constructed on site need to meet local, state, and federal (FEMA) codes. Though some structures may be built below flood plain, see specific attention to FEMA's requirements for flood resistant materials and NC IRC codes for high wind loads. At the end of the day, your insurance company will set the de facto code if they will not insure a structure below flood plain.
    5. The winners of BC11 still own it and love it!
    6. We love all of you.
    7. The BC14 location will be announced after the BC13 giveaway.
    8. Atlantic, NC has some of the friendliest and finest folks I have ever met so keep entering!
    9. I gave Jay a tour of the house and he was moved by our recreation of a family gem. Any remaining family heirlooms or furniture were returned to him.

    D.Eastman on August 8, 2013 at 2:31 am
    • Mr. Eastman,
Thank you so much for blogging with us. It makes us feel better to know that you feel certain that the folks are friendly and welcoming, I think we all started feeling that way eventually. The home is a beauty and you have all kept us on pins and needles through the remodeling. Maybe Jay was the one writing and stopped after he got a chance to see the family gem after the remodeling job. It's nice that you were able to return any remaining family heirlooms to him also. With such a long and loving history, I'm sure people who've lived in or known someone who's lived in this home are extremely emotional, especially with the idea of a new family living there. I hope they know whomever lives here next will continue the loving history.

Again, thank you for your information. We all appreciate it. Have a great day!!

    • Hi Mr. Eastman,
1.Thank you for coming up with a way to reward the bloggers. I know this will sound silly but I would have loved the coasters, more than the bedding. The bedding is great and I could use new sheets but the coasters were a part of the beautiful little cabin that was.
2.A game project from Grundy makes my head crazy with ideas; crazy ideas. ?
5.I know if I had won BC11 I would still own it and love living there. I’m glad that they are there that was a beautiful home.
6.Thank you the feeling is mutual.
      7.(Any hints before then?)
8.I could tell from what was written that there is a lot of love there.
9.I can’t tell you how happy and relieved I was to hear that the unused heirlooms were returned. That was kind and generous of all of you to see that they were returned. Thanks!

    • Thank You Dylan for all the additional info!
      You guys/gals all Rock!!

I've been watching for your cameo on an upcoming BC show….can't wait to see you on the telly-vision.
Take Care, us bloggers love you too :)

    • thanks Eastman for information especially the info on the community because that is important to me. I live on 17 acres in a remote area and I depend on my neighbors. I have bronchitis and my husband has cancer and they went to the store for me and brought me medicine and herbal tea because I could not get out. nice.
Blog Cabin looks like a remote area. I did not see any church or grocery store so neighbors are important

lfinicle on August 8, 2013 at 7:12 pm
    • Dylan, I know your happy about the outcome of the BC11, you get to see it often? Seems like you almost moved to NC on this one. I can"t wait for the 14's location. And thanks for the additional information that you shared.

      540sam on August 9, 2013 at 1:32 am
    • Three huge thank you's, Dylan . First for your extreme care and innovation with this project; it shows in the beauty of this home. Secondly, we are grateful you took the time to answer, explain and communicate with us on the blog. Third but not least, we so appreciate that you gave a tour for the former owner and made sure he got to take his heirlooms with him.
Mathews must be so glad to have you back home !

    • Thanks for taking the time to blog and answer some questions. We bloggers are an excited and at times excitable bunch. We also somtimes scurry down rabit holes rather than play in the fields.;)

So glad to hear the 2011 winners still own the house. I know they loved it It was a truly serendipitous win for them.

I come from a tiny, very rural community, not unlike Atlantic (but not in the US) and have moved many times in my life, working on 4 continents and living in many different places. I've always found good, inviting, friendly & helpful folk no matter where I have been. I'm sure the people of Carteret County are no different – and learning another 'languge' is always fun too.

Meanwhile I'm waiting patiently (at least trying to) for the next location to be announced then on to the remodelling or building process.:)

Clive on August 9, 2013 at 4:35 pm
    • Thank you Mr. Eastman for answering all the questions! You and all yours have done a wonderful job on the BC!

It is great to hear that you all gave back the remaining pieces of furniture and family gems to the FAM! I am glad Jay got a tour….what did he think of everything? Spectacular or what!? I would've loved to see his face and reactions to everything.

You have a great day and thank you for everything.^_^

    • Thanks for the answers and clarifications – particularly number four. A lot of people will now be happy they can put up a shed or garage…but first they have to be the winner!

  7. Coolsmiley…..the millionaire….i don't think regis was in that…it was a dramatic series in the 50s about a millionaire who would pick someone who they believed deserving of a million dollars and deliver….it was a very nice premise….

twoterriers on August 8, 2013 at 9:54 am
    • I remember that, we didn't have a lot of shows in the 50's so I guess it's easy to remember. I loved Queen for a day, she was lucky if she got a new washing machine, well, I guess when you think about it,any new appliance is a nice thing to win.:D

nanwes on August 8, 2013 at 2:04 pm
    • We must be close in age. I remember telling mom that she should try to be "Queen for a Day" She brought it to my attention that you had to have a Miserable life to be on that show. Until then I was just excited that those women won a washer.

      Eugenia27 on August 8, 2013 at 4:37 pm
    • Nope , never saw that one but does seem similar to a more recent show "Undercover Boss" Yours sounds even better thou!

coolsmiley on August 8, 2013 at 2:58 pm
    • I don't know if Maytag sponsered the show or if that's what the prize was, but I remember them somehow. I must have been pretty young 5-7 somewhere in there. As I say, once we got a TV there wasn't much on TV. Everything was entertaining, didn't take much. :D

nanwes on August 8, 2013 at 3:29 pm
    • Ah yes, the basic 13 channels and no cost beyond the layout for the TV price!!A tube was 2.00 and you got up to change the channels!

coolsmiley on August 8, 2013 at 3:38 pm
    • Oh, you're really aging me, or maybe it's just because the little town of Paris Texas in the 50s only got maybe 4 channels. We had the old test pattern after a certain hour, maybe 10:00p.m. until maybe 7a.m., I still remember the big radio we had, it was about the size of a TV (before the flat screen TVs)

nanwes on August 8, 2013 at 4:04 pm
    • wow paris texas…..they made a movie about that you know…….

twoterriers on August 10, 2013 at 10:03 pm
    • 13 Channels? What, …. are you a kid or something? (giggle)

      Eugenia27 on August 8, 2013 at 4:38 pm
    • Thank you, I needed some re-enforcements:D. Everyone seems like a kid today, I go to the Dr. and can't believe the people who are taking blood, etc., keep thinking it's 'bring your child to work day'.xD I didn't see a smiley that would represent a 'knee slapper'.

nanwes on August 8, 2013 at 5:28 pm
    • See, I'm still learning that stuff. only because I read your e-mail first then came here… I never knew how to make the xD or did I still do it wrong? smiley = knee slapper. got it. Thanks.

      Eugenia27 on August 8, 2013 at 6:04 pm
    • You got the smiley, there's not a knee slapper unfortunately, as in laughing and then saying 'that's a knee slapper', but I think you got that.xD;)

nanwes on August 8, 2013 at 7:35 pm
    • Pretty sure we are same age, maybe I just forgot less channels. I thought TV went dead after national anthem about 2 AM

coolsmiley on August 8, 2013 at 10:28 pm
    • I remember 3 channels, ABC, CBS, NBC. TV came on like around 5pm went off like 9pm, so we still got most of our entertainment over the radio, Lone Ranger, Amos and Andy, The Shadow, Gang Busters etc. Later in the 50's they had a few more stations and added more entertainment, instead of just Fri nite fights and came on in the mornings and went off a lot later.

      540sam on August 9, 2013 at 1:20 am
    • Funny….I don't remember any of the channels, only rabbit ears and cigarette commercials…i guess that means i am getting really old… cronkite, perry como…oh my…time to go to blog cabin, smart home, urban oasis or dream home, and then maybe 2014 blog cabin, on and on….:)

twoterriers on August 10, 2013 at 10:06 pm
    • Are you forgetting Nat King Cole ? We must all be about the same age!

mimigook on August 12, 2013 at 9:18 pm
    • Hi Mimi,Isn't it great there are so many of us….how about johnny mathis….and of course frank….my mom used to play johnny mathis, nat king cole and frank all day when i was about 5…… was and still is so comforting to heart that music…
