  2. Well blogger friends, a new chapter begins with the quest for our dream cabin (: The kitchen is so nice with the beautiful coastal colors found in the granite counters, the absolutely beautiful backsplash with the stone and glass tiles, the rustic fixed island with the home's original wood and " wow " the fantastic stainless steel gas range plus great features ( imagine the delicious meals coming out of it ). The pergola will offer a wonderful place to relax and feast our eyes on the gorgeous views of the water and the luscious surroundings. I could go on and on….so thank you DIY crew for providing this lovely and comfortable cabin to build our dreams and hopes on.

  4. A little bummed out after reading Clives tax statement. I, for one, do not have that much "in reserve" should I win this Blog Cabin !! I suppose I'd have to sell it just to break even !!

gremol on July 29, 2013 at 4:18 pm
    • what about the tax statement. I have to read.:|

chyna on July 29, 2013 at 8:28 pm
    • btw how much is the tax statement

chyna on July 29, 2013 at 8:32 pm
    • oh yeah for sure so you could just sell it they dont give the option of taking the amount of the houses worth?

hellodolly on July 30, 2013 at 1:30 pm
    • Oh you would more than break even gremol. The federal taxes would only be about $139,000. If you don't come out with more than $200k in your pocket, you picked the wrong realtor! ^_^

EdinOregon on July 30, 2013 at 2:30 pm
    • I don't understand why taxes on winning in US are allowed to be that high. Plunder and no one complains.

Vesna on July 31, 2013 at 3:09 am
    • It's income tax and the cabin, as with all lottery winnings etc., is income. The $460,000 value puts the winner into the top tax bracket for this year on all income over $400,000 if you file as a single person. It's really no different from winning 'Powerball'.

Sally on July 31, 2013 at 10:38 am
    • Well don't damper every thing about the taxes. Jesus! You never know what will happen between here and then. You may come into some money , where's your faith!!! Why get all the way over the bridge and jump off.
For one I am going to win this house and every provision will be made before I get there , or in mist I don't care . Look at this place it has very dream, well if it's not your dream it's mine. I wouldn't even try to sell it. Haven't you every heard of the red sea crossing. been there so many times I can collect on it. ok I believe!!!

      drdonnaa7 on August 6, 2013 at 9:58 am
    • yes the house is nice and everyone would love to win. But, could be nice if taxes are at least 10% on it so we could pay. :)

Vesna on August 6, 2013 at 2:29 pm
    • But how can you sell a house if you can't pay everything to close on it first?

wonder woman on August 2, 2013 at 5:47 pm
    • I'm not a tax expert but I'm thinking you wouldn't have to pay the federal and state taxes until the following year which if you wait to take possession the house until Jan 2014 you would have until April 2015 to pay the taxes. That should be adequate time to sell. You would have to pay closing costs including possibly a years reserve on the property tax.

snorkelboy on August 9, 2013 at 12:06 pm
    • It's a chance for sponsors for a tax write off, so guess who has to pay for it????

  8. Yeah!! It's finally time to try for the prize:* I'll worry about taxes if/after I win, I'm not going to let reality ruin the dream. For now I'll just enjoy this part of the game ;) The house is perfect, the location is wonderful, and I'm in it to win it.

Windsmurf on July 29, 2013 at 4:33 pm
    • You go Windsmurf! If I were younger, I'd go for it, too.
      Good luck to you.
