  1. The Fireplace Surround!

  2. It is very difficult to pick just one but I'm going to say it was pretty clever how they used the foundation stumps for the shelf.

  3. Both of the reclaimed wood doors – in the Master Bathroom and the Mega Den – are pretty special IMHO… fireplace too!

    • Question Laurie, the wall hiding the bunk- Murphy beds, is that the actual sign from Atlantic Seafood or a recreation?

      540sam on July 20, 2013 at 6:10 am
    • That was my pick, Laurie!!Btw, what is IMHO?

    • I had to find a site to know what all the texting lingo means, I'll try to attach one, but IMHO = "in my humble opinion".
      It's a whole new language! http://www.webopedia.com/quick_ref/textmessageabb
There are others, but I'm afraid to attach more.

    • Thank you for that link. I really needed it. I was going to ask you what WCG meant. LOL I figured it out. :)

      Eugenia27 on July 21, 2013 at 3:23 pm
    • Sometimes it takes a few minutes . . . my husband asked what that meant, too!! (more LOL'ing)

    • HA! Thank you WCG !

    • Hey, y'all are welcome. I found a total of 3 sites I saved, but that one I gave is pretty okay.
I don't text and I found a few things here that I couldn't decipher, so off I went to research.
This new language is convenient, but it's not Deutsch!

    • Laurie I love the fold down table on your blog! If you need another project idea, what about a similar project – only with an ironing board built into the cabinet so it would fold out of the way when not needed?

  4. By far the wine bar in the Media Room is my favorite. The whole house is a dream tho, it would be wonderful to live in. Good luck all.

  5. Love the wood sliding door division the most, I think! Of course the fireplace is a treasure. I thought I had heard there was a reuse for the old water pump perhaps in outdoor shower however I haven't found the inside of the shower to confirm but I LOVE that idea!!<3<3<3

coolsmiley on July 20, 2013 at 12:52 am
  6. Everything inside is my favorite space every nook inspires me and the fact that they were able to reuse so much of the old home another great success thank you DIY.

  7. Same here, so difficult to choose! The item in the house that reminds me the most of the coasters with their beautiful grain is the desk in the family room, with the parquet surface. I love it! It is my favorite upcycled item in the 2013 BC.

  8. I loved the balcony view of the water

  9. Wow, to try and narrow this down to just one?!! That is difficult. The entire blog cabin is gorgeous! I have gotten it down to one room. The Master Bedroom, and in my time in school–I just graduated in June 2013–we never called the Master Bedroom by any other name. I chose this room because of the MANY recycled pieces. The beautiful headboard made from corner posts and hurricane shutters, the piece of art above the bed, using an old house boxtop with driftwood, the frame of the bed, the bed fronts for storage using the old door knockers from the original home, the small make-up table that was cut in half to become side tables, the tall chest, and the barn door that leads to the Master Bath, that uses parts from the original home. So, I guess, for me it's the Master Bedroom with its many repurposed pieces from the original home.

    • Right Tisha, you can call it sweet but you don't have to call it suite.

    • good one!

  10. Aaahhhh beach living, where the livin' is easy, the vibe is relaxed and comfortable, nothing to elegant or fussy. Recycled weathered wood along with white washed wood looks so perfect in a coastal setting, showcasing natural textures to put the occupant in a restful state of mind. All of the recycled wood projects are my favorite, it's just to hard to pick just one! For me, they all bring a bit of SEA*renity to our sea side cottage.

I hope it's OK with Mary to share this link with everybloggie. I found some behind the scenes footage with each of the DIY Crashers, this first link features Josh from House Crashers, which in my opinion created a living room which could be on the cover of Coastal Home magazine. I love seeing him & Grundy sharing the musical inspiration they felt at Blog Cabin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT4CxitF8kY

    • Here's some behind the scenes with Matty Blah Blah the Yard Crasher with the perfect hair.
Matty are you still carrying a hairbrush in your tool belt?
I love that Matty & Grundy talked pirates and NASCAR!! The yard they gave BC is Perfection http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwG7PhgmkPI

Mel on July 20, 2013 at 8:05 am
    • Thar be pirates at the Blog Cabin!!….still Matt M & Grundy created a beautiful Master bath & bedroom. The custom vanity & mirror frame are just perfect for a beachy keen cottage. Love this glimpse behind the scenes of Bath Crashers @ Blog Cabin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGlY9zlF1WQ

    • Allison sure knows how to make an entrance, and a beautiful kitchen… I love the kitchen bar, and like so many other bloggers, the look of the custom built beach themed dining table! All the Crashers did an amazing job, this little sneak peek of Allison & Grundy will have to do until I can watch the whole show

    • Thank you Mel, for sharing! I have watched each one and I will come back for more…LOL..

TishaStanley on July 21, 2013 at 8:17 am
    • You're welcome Tisha, they're addictive to watch over & over little clips

Mel on July 21, 2013 at 12:10 pm
    • OH Mel, thank you first watched Grundy and ? sitting on the dock of the bay and really wanted to CRY and then the tidbit of outside shower, I didn't see the old water pump in there, I had hoped they found a use for it (hand washing or something)

coolsmiley on July 20, 2013 at 5:13 pm
    • Josh & Grundy are on the dock together, who knew they could improvise a song so well !! I adored their video, and absolutely had to share it. :)
I didn't see the water pump in the outside shower either, but it must be on the property somewhere? We may not find out until the shows…maybe they keep a few secrets to make sure we all tune in.

Mel on July 20, 2013 at 6:47 pm
    • Finally swooping back in to check the blog and see the inside tour…but you have really brought the fun of the host personalities with these videos, Mel. Thank you ! I smiled through each one…the contemporary, "ahem"– pirates in costume cracked me up. All the videos were fun, but I laughed out loud when Grundy startled Victoria at the antique shop with his "barking"–she almost dropped the things she was holding ! ( Wonder if DIY has to pay for items that get broken in the event of Grundy's boundless spirit, LOL ) I am glad the boys survived their plank walking feats atop the outdoor kitchen framing, and hope the antique mirror survived Grundy's repeat trips to admire his reflection in it. He does get a bit too worked up talking about how clean someone can get with all the shower sprays…reminds me of his enthusiasm for the kitchen sink in last year's BC. So funny.

LLColeman on July 21, 2013 at 1:28 am
    • I couldn't agree more LL, Grundy is so funny…he can really animate his voice & face, and tends to really get me laughing! Hard to imagine all the fun that could be captured with him & Josh together…..that's two big kids with power tools.

By the way I've been missing you on the blog and hope you and yours are having a wonderful summer. I know the winner of BC 2011 & you had the same birthday and she got the call she had won on her birthday, then I saw the post over on the Smart Home blog that you and that winner had the same career for many years. Looks like Lady Luck is dancing all around you LL, maybe this year will be your year! Please blog when you can because I really enjoy your wit, not to mention how well you speak in pirate :)

Mel on July 21, 2013 at 12:19 pm
    • Thank ye, Mel, that means a lot and I be missin' all the bloggies on board har….(.Meself just realized I called ye wench Alison Victoria by her last name…arrrr.. me bad…)

I do think in many ways this BC is the best one in the sense that everyone really put so much thought into it…and Dylan had so much input that he managed to bring the old homestead feel to life in this new build. I was really touched by many of the details. It really inspired Josh & Chris to get musical on the new dock. <3

Mel on July 21, 2013 at 12:21 pm
    • Mel, I just found all your links. Thank you so much, I'm glad Mary and the Blog Grinch allowed you to link these videos. The whole reason I found Blog Cabin is because I accidentally watched BC 2012 on DIY last winter. I really enjoyed watching all those people working so hard and crafting so well. Grundy got me hooked with his zest for life and his hubris (although I now believe he really is a "Jack Of All Trades")
This BC had been such a fun journey for me and my husband. Again, thanks for the links.
