On the Eve of the Virtual Home Tour

Happy Friday, folks!

We launch the virtual home tour on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Excited? I think you will be stunned by the images and exclusive video we’ve captured.

In the meantime, I thought you’d enjoy a special treat: a second cinemagraph from visual designer Jason Kisner. Yes, the home has an outdoor shower — your vote! — and it’s clad in the home’s original shingles! How cool is that?

Also, I have some exciting news to share. We will be doing giveaways in this blog throughout the run of the tour and sweeps. The Blog Cabin 2013 Gimme Gimme Giveaway starts next Friday, July 19. First product up for grabs? Coasters handcrafted by project manager Dylan Eastman from the home’s original corner posts! Check the Made+Remade blog for the exclusive how-to (just in case you don’t win them). A rendering of the side yard (giveaway August 23), signed by Yard Crashers host Matt Blashaw, and a cornhole set (giveaway September 9), designed by Blog Cabin show host Chris Grundy, will also be given away.

Keep checking this blog for more details, rules and guidelines. Cheers!

  6. I couldn't love a location more! I have been going to the Outer Banks of NC since I "found" it in 1971.. When my kids were small I tried to go every year and seldom missed a year….Now they are all grown, and I live alone with no one to go with.. I would LOVE having this house!! My kids and relatives would all visit and I could have my animals and peace in my old age! :) :) :)

  7. I love this pic! You have captured one of my favorite memories of growing up in NC and going to the beach. I loved taking showers outside as a kid and still do. This refurbished bench with the towel blowing from the sound breezes….I can smell the salt air. This house captures all of what the Crystal Coast is about…family, simplicity, and the feeling of relaxation as you exhale when you get to your beach house. Kick off your shoes and trade them in for flip flops and a beach towel and the warm summer sun on your face. Just got back last week from the beach and it is calling me back again looking at this picture. What I love the most about this house is you kept a lot of the original pieces and added them throughout the house giving it its' own personality. Every detail from the pier to the fireplace have pieces of history of a family that loved this place and grew up in it. I would cherish a home that has a heart like this in it.

  8. "You must be the change you wish to see in the world", This is the quote I'll hang in my new cabin! It feels so real watching the virtual photos one can imagine actually living there and enjoying all the family fun. NC never looked so good. Job well done !
