On the Eve of the Virtual Home Tour

Happy Friday, folks!

We launch the virtual home tour on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Excited? I think you will be stunned by the images and exclusive video we’ve captured.

In the meantime, I thought you’d enjoy a special treat: a second cinemagraph from visual designer Jason Kisner. Yes, the home has an outdoor shower — your vote! — and it’s clad in the home’s original shingles! How cool is that?

Also, I have some exciting news to share. We will be doing giveaways in this blog throughout the run of the tour and sweeps. The Blog Cabin 2013 Gimme Gimme Giveaway starts next Friday, July 19. First product up for grabs? Coasters handcrafted by project manager Dylan Eastman from the home’s original corner posts! Check the Made+Remade blog for the exclusive how-to (just in case you don’t win them). A rendering of the side yard (giveaway August 23), signed by Yard Crashers host Matt Blashaw, and a cornhole set (giveaway September 9), designed by Blog Cabin show host Chris Grundy, will also be given away.

Keep checking this blog for more details, rules and guidelines. Cheers!

  5. OMG!! I have been absent from the blog for a while (busy here on the farm, you know. In fact, we are in the throes of lambing in this heat!). But, in any case, this home is absolutely unbelievably spectacular! I have come back to view something quite different from what I saw in the beginnings. You guys have done an amazing job!

coolsmiley on July 19, 2013 at 3:33 pm
    • Think I read somewhere that you have to post and mention your favorite upcycled item in the house.
Have to research that again since today is the first day.

    • Hi cool…..gp here….i have resurected myself as the two terriers….hope all is well with you…..i am confused about this coaster contest too….do we move forward to this blog? I have been entering numerous of these contests for years, but have only discovered the blog in the last 6 months…and i love it…hoping winnings for all..

twoterriers on July 19, 2013 at 11:39 am
    • That seems to be the $64,000.00 ? I have no clue and being today is the 19th, I thought we might see some words of wisdom from Mr. Grundy , Laurie Marsh or one of the gang? I did however FINALLY find the "Doggie Door" and it would be a perfect fit for your terriers. Did I tell you my FAV dog of all the ones I owned over the years was a terrier mix, had that gentle loving creature for 17 years!! would so have appreciated a dd when she got older and sick and could no longer bark to come in. So funny I thought about inventing a door with a collar like this for shark tanks and when I started research, of course It already existed!~Good Luck on coasters, etc. Any reson FOR THE RESURRECTION?

coolsmiley on July 19, 2013 at 1:42 pm
    • wasn't sure it was kosher to use my company avatar, even though i wasn't advertising….wish i could…but would rather not worry.Great minds think alike…i.e. you and the doggie collar……. The only dogs I have owned since leaving home have been terriers…..3 wired hair fox terriers and a rescue poodle/terrier mix…..they are so alive and smart….we love them dearly; hope these two outlive me…they are precious terriers……you need another terrier…..thanks again….the coaster blog seems temporary….but will pay close attention to the blog. hope all is well with you and your h……you or me need to win one of these houses….see you virtually soon….

twoterriers on July 19, 2013 at 4:44 pm
  9. Wow! I knew it would be nice but it is really beautiful and it makes you feel so "at home". Love the relaxing color schemes and all of the wood, especially the reuse of the shingles in the outdoor shower. I'll have to say any house I have ever dreamed about has had a wrap around porch, don't know why but I love them. Get your fingers limbered up everyone and don't forget to enter every day.

  10. So excited blog cabin is in NC again! I can't stop telling friends and co-workers about it, which is sure to decrease my odds. Oh well what can you do when it is just so amazing to see how things are reused to create such a beautiful house in a gorgeous location.
