Friday’s Special Treat

As we await the launch of the online virtual tour, I thought you’d enjoy this tease, which comes in the form of a cinemagraph created by our visual designer Jason Kisner. I love the acacia pub table and chairs that offer a magnificent view of Core Sound and those festive lanterns, swaying in the breeze as they suspend from the old pecan tree branches. Perfection!

  1. Good Morning Bloggers! I hope everyone has a great day! When things get tough, just imagine sitting on the dock and it all seems to go away! Becky<3

  2. Good morning, friends!! 6 more days for the virtual tour, and 19 more days we get to start trying to win "our cabin"…Looking forward to "sitting on the dock and fishing" with all of you…or sitting by the outdoor firepit…Let our imaginations run because soon one lucky winner will get it….I really hope it is one of us!!

As for all the rain I've been getting–it rained last night, flash flood warnings. No rain right now but it looks like it may. If I knew how to put pictures on here, I'd show you what we've been dealing with…I remember as a child playing in the rain but what we have been getting, it is so drenching that playing in it is out of the question.
I have my washer and hot water tank on pallets because I know that my basement takes in water, we've been pumping it out because 1) I don't want water in my basement, and 2) the water level was almost completely over the pallets. I've given up on having a dryer…I've had 3 in the 8 years I've live in this house and they just don't "survive" so I continue to use my clothesline-which I do in the summer–when it isn't raining–anyway. On the bright side, I haven't had to run my A/C as much. The breeze that comes with the rain cools off the house well.

    Have a wonderful day!!! :)

    • Holy Cow! Tisha, please do your anti-rain dance & get Jennie to help. And please send it south & west.__I remember the spring of '73, it rained so much in the DFW area that I thought the sun would be moldy green if it ever appeared again. (No, I wasn't doing any happy weed, just philosophizing)__I've got my rain barrels out all around the house & garden shed, but the wasps and yellow jackets have made them their home. No need for the mosquito dunks again this year and we are under a perpetual burn ban. Under our wildlife land exemption, we have all kinds of watering (and other things) stations set up on the property. Henry calls them his "bird water parks". One we have just down from the house has attracted a myriad of critters, but the roadrunner with the fox has been the strangest pairing.__Tisha, it will all even out I think, one day. Keep your dryer (head) above water and hope for the best. Don't forget, you have a degree under your belt! And entry for BC starts soon.__WCG

  7. Time for some new pics. It will be two weeks this Friday since we saw anything new. The BC commercials were way to fast but i caught a glance of the fab cab. Thank you YouTube for the commercial so I can play it back again and again. Is that obsessiveness behavior or what, I love it.

    • Thanks, Laurie! Appreciate your good wishes! We Bloggies think a Bloggie should win this time too! :D I really like your ombre wall treatment –kinda' interesting dichotomy between the name of the treatment style and the color scheme, huh? :) We all enjoy having you with us on this blog. I really do appreciate the DIY Network and the entire Blog Cabin Concept–You're the best Addition since Dylan Eastman was discovered in Virginia, not far from me, nearly 3 Blog Cabins ago, on the Chesapeake Bay! xDB)<3^_^<3 Kitty

    • Kitty –

Wouldn't it be dreamy if a blogger won?? Once they got over the shock, they could blog all about the experience of getting the keys, taking a trip to the BC, and setting first footfall on the porch… would be incredible to capture that energy.

Thanks for the love on the Ombre… it was a ton of fun to do. I'm doing a lot of small, affordable little DIY projects for the sites now that people can do in a day – I think people are hungry for quick changes that don't cost a fortune, you know?

You're so lovely to say that… I hope to be even more involved with Blog Cabin and all it's awesomeness next year… you know they've already got a location figured out I believe. I'm not in on it yet, but it's coming!

That guy Dylan is pretty awesome… :D We're lucky to have him!

    • Lairie, I'll be looking forward to those videos too!:p I love the paint wall treatment, also especially like the inexpensive way to make a sliding door. I agree with everything Kitty said, you are a wonderful addition to the BC creative team, and we very much appreciate your kindness in taking time to blog with us!<3<3<3
