Along the Waterfront

Blog Cabin 2013 Water Views

A big part of Blog Cabin’s appeal is that phenomenal view of Core Sound. How is the remodeling team making the most of the home’s waterfront location? First, by making sure the newly renovated home offers views from every possible vantage point and then by providing a front-row seat to all the action. Rebuilding the dock took some creative thinking but now offers a spot to bask in the sun, nature watch (yes, dolphins play in these waters) and fish for flounder, red drum, croaker, mullet and skates.

To learn more, please visit the Remodeling of Blog Cabin 2013 package on HGTVRemodels.com where we’ve just launched features on waterfront views and dock reconstruction. I truly appreciate project manager Dylan Eastman’s sensitive, environmentally friendly approach to home remodeling and land development.

  5. what a beautiful hide lovely home. I am rescuing young girls out of the slave traffic world and this would be such a beautiful place to bring them periodically for restoration. Yes even in the wonderful USA this young kids are stolen. Thank you diynetwork for making this happen.

  6. Given your location in New Bern, NC, I was surprised that the dock was not topped with hog slats. This is the standard in the area and is VERY resistant to hurricane damage as well as any other sort of weather. For those not familiar with hog slats they are pre-cast concrete flooring sections used in hog farms. They are designed for drainage while being both strong and smooth to walk on. Look at any new dock construction in Pamlico County and you are likely to see hog slats. That includes the town dock in Oriental.

  7. I see nobody in the water in canoe, raft or swimming. Is that water swimmable or are there currents that're too strong? I would find it difficult to resist especially without a pool. The area is so pretty and the water inviting. This is a slice of paradise…great location and terrific job inside and out! :D
