  2. Hey,hey, hey Bloggies old & new check out the HGTV Smart home. The view is not as good as the B.C.,but it is done in a beautifull way & one can start entering on 4-11-13.

Angelways on April 5, 2013 at 5:30 pm
    • Hi Angelways and Bloggers! The Smart Home is truly spectacular, isn't it? And in a safe, gated community, with its own private pool and what looks like a sanctuary for a yard. I was trying to figure out if the $100,000 might pay the federal taxes on the place, but probably not. I hope the winner can afford to keep it, because it is like the "Home of the Future" that we all thought about as children. If not, at least the winner will get to tour it in person ;=)… I'll be voting every day… Good luck everyone!

Lauri on April 5, 2013 at 9:54 pm
    • Hi Lauri, I am also patiently awaiting the finished project but I love watching them work as well. It is so nice to feel like you are a part of what is going on if at only from a distance. I think the voting also helps us feel like we are a big part of it as well. I have so much fun coming online each and every morning just to see who is online chatting and to see what progress the guys are making. They are such hard working guys. Much Love!! <3<3

  5. Took a peek around 9:30 (8:30 BC time). Lights are all on but I believe they are left on for security. Didn't see any cars or any action. It looked like the area to the right of the french door downstairs had been walled off. I know that is not how it is supposed to be so they must have something blocking the view part way. Hard to tell but fun to try and peek inside. Looks like the area will be really dark at night unless one has lights outside. Bet you could really see the stars. Does anybody know the amount of rainfall they have in that area on the average? It sure seems like there has been a lot lately. Maybe they are having April showers so they can have lots of May flowers.

Hazelnut Deb on April 5, 2013 at 10:33 pm
    • Hi Hazel, I did a quick search to find your answer, and I'll copy the link information here–sorry I don't know the control to make it an active link– maybe I can figure it out, but if not, you can copy and paste…

I think I might have been able to copy and paste if I had saved it to my favorites. At least it gives you the average temperatures and rainfall. I just spoke with my daughter in Wilmington. It's not raining tonight, but they have had quite a bit lately…my daughter in the mountains of NC says they have had lots of sleet and rain (and snow)… Never fear, Spring is near… ;=)

BrookwoodCarolina on April 6, 2013 at 12:31 am
    • Thanks! Looks like the summer months have even more rain. Nice time to sit on the screened in porch and watch the rain.

  7. Hi Everyone & DIY! Just want to say what a great job you have done on the dock, and ask once more if we are getting a light at the pier, and a flag on the grounds? I am so excited to see the dock come together this way. Will there be any steps off either side to go down to the water's edge? Ohhhhhhhhh it is so lovely to think about…. good night all… we can dream about it and look forward to more progress soon!

  8. Good Morning,
I am only able to read 2 pages of comments… can you fix this? Thanx! :)

Ethel on April 6, 2013 at 6:32 am
    • Good Morning Ethel,
I believe there are only two pages to this thread. You have to drill down on each comment to read the replies. Hope this helps. :) Judy

JudyInMich on April 6, 2013 at 8:10 am
    • Hi Ethel and Judy! Yes as Judy said this is a new thread you have to go back to the other one. Much Love!! <3<3

  9. Sweet Saturday morning to all of you! Did any of you happen to go to the cabin cam this a.m.? Beautiful sunrise! It was a pinkish-purple sky and it reflected on the water's edge! Gorgeous! Hope all of you have a sweet Saturday. I'm painting today, as it is supposed to get up in the 50's here this afternoon. Yippeee! He-hee!^_^

amberPA on April 6, 2013 at 7:04 am
    • Good morning Amber, and everyone else! It's beautiful there this morning. I caught the tail end of the sunrise. I never can decide if I like that the best (and the sunsets) or the way the sun filters thru the trees in the morning. ;-) Today would be a good day to be on the porch with a cup of coffee and just enjoy…

      karenlin91 on April 6, 2013 at 7:25 am
    • Karen, you are sooo right! It is a beautiful place morning or night! I too, enjoy the way the sun shines through the trees! It makes me feel warm!

I have a large wrap around porch and though I don't drink coffee, it is the best place to be anytime, especially on the sunny days! We are remodeling a 152 year old farmhouse on 75 acres. Today I am painting in the mudroom! It is a BLAST ! My hubby thinks a bit differently at times though, since he and my dad are working on it together! I am the painter and designer! He-hee! (It was the farmhouse my dad was born and raised in, so he has a tough time with some of the sentimental things that are being updated.) He has loved the changes after they have been completed! I am very blessed with their knowledge, gifts, and talents!

I hope you have a delicious cup of coffee and if your ever in our neck of the woods, stop by and sit a spell on our porch!^_^

amberPA on April 6, 2013 at 7:40 am
    • Karen, when I said my hubby thinks differently at times, I meant due to some of the nightmares that we have had with the remodel! I can understand the problems that arise in an older home that the blog cabin crew have had to deal with! We have been working on this home for 2 and 1/2 years now! Thank goodness the building permit has been extended for us each time! This is a major over-haul! Heating, plumbing, new addition, new huge porch, new roof, all new sheet rock, new electric, on and on and on! It is a bit overwhelming at times, but it is SO FUN! My siblings and cousins all like to come for visits in the summer just to see what has changed! I am sure the family in NC would love to see the changes in their family home too! If it is driving us all crazy and we can't wait to see it, imagine what they are feeling! I hope the construction crew has them over for a walk-through before it is turned over to the winner. I think they would enjoy their memories and new thoughts of the beach house!^_^

amberPA on April 6, 2013 at 7:57 am
    • Amber, what a really nice idea! Hope that the D I Y crew does invite the family to see the BC. :D Judy

JudyInMich on April 6, 2013 at 8:19 am
    • Amber, I can see how it would be overwhelming at times! I've only done it in pieces, but love every minute of it! I hope you're taking lots of before and after pics! I think the most fun I had was when we bought new tile for the kitchen floor. Carl kept putting off getting started, so one Friday Linda across the street and Pat next door, and I made a pitcher of margaritas, got everything out of the kitchen, and used shovels to get the old tile out. ;-) We had the garbage can at the front door, but it got so heavy we couldn't move it out…Carl had to move it to get in the door ;-) We now have a beautiful floor!
In a couple of weeks, it will be time to raise the garden bed, and add a new one too…….more surprises for him ;-)

      karenlin91 on April 6, 2013 at 8:31 am
    • Karen, You are hilarious! I love it! My husband always is wondering what is in store for him next! He-hee! Your Carl sounds like a true gem, you are very lucky! I know I am lucky too! Have a wonderful rest of the weekend. ^_^

amberPA on April 6, 2013 at 7:12 pm
  10. Good Morning, Everyone!!! Hope everybody had a great night…..Amber, I didn't get to see the sunrise, I was up, but not on the computer…. It looks like it may be a great day here in Upstate NY, but then yesterday was a beautiful day and then started flurrying.

Tisha Stanley on April 6, 2013 at 7:16 am
    • Oh Tisha, flurries yesterday…we were without them here yesterday, thank goodness! Today is supposed to be a lovely 50 degrees or so here, I hope you get some of this too! Have a great and wonderful day! B)

amberPA on April 6, 2013 at 7:23 am
    • Good Morning Tisha, Amber, Everyone! Isn't it beautiful at the BC this morning? It's getting ready to rain here. We had flurries this week too. Not that it stuck. So I am just going to enjoy the beautiful weather at the BC. Have my coffee this morning, then tea later today, and sit back and relax on this, my day off work. :D

JudyInMich on April 6, 2013 at 8:16 am
    • Judy, I wish for you a wonderful day off! Enjoy your coffee and tea! I agree that it warms us "SNOW Folk" up a bit to see all the glory of the sunshine! I think spring is finally on its way here, I hope it is for you also!
      Have a glorious Saturday!

amberPA on April 6, 2013 at 8:24 am
    • Tisha, I hope you are getting done flurrying, it's time for spring to do it's thing now ;-)

      karenlin91 on April 6, 2013 at 8:34 am
    • Karen, Amber–I do enjoy the sunshine!! It's supposed to get up around 50 degrees here today too. Thankfully the flurries didn't amount to anything and nothing has stayed!!! I am so ready for the spring to be here and stay….I know my flowers will appreciate the sunshine…LOL. Have a wonderful day off, I will be spending the day with my granddaughter–who finally got rid of the hives that plagued her for a week!!

    • Been a nice warm sunny day here close to the BC location(3 miles away),quite windy.I didn't get to the BC today but did go outside while the kids cut and hauled brush from the ditch bank.

TonyE on April 6, 2013 at 7:23 pm
    • Hi TonyE! You are so lucky to be that close to the BC! I am glad you had a wonderful day with the kiddos! It was about 45 degrees here today, but with a slight chill to the air! All in all, BEAUTIFUL! Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend. ^_^
