  1. This will be an amazing cabin!

cynthia on April 3, 2013 at 9:31 am
    • Hi Cynthia, you are so right! This is the most beautiful place that I have ever seen and the fact that someone will be lucky enough to own it is just amazing. I just really hope who ever wins will be able to keep it and pass it down to their family for many generations to come. That is what is so special about this house in the first place, the history. Best of luck to you!! Much Love!! <3<3

  2. The house is coming along nicely. This is the first time I've followed the Blog Cabin. I like how the Blog Cabin is interactive where we all get a chance to vote on features and see it via cam getting built and worked upon. It's been lit up at night and some beautiful sunrises/sunsets can be seen on the cam if you time your viewing right. I have been reading the blog for awhile now and it's nice how the builder is commenting on some of our posts which gives a different perspective. I'm excited to see some of the videos and photos on the houses interior not to mention am curious what the finished home will look like!

  4. Good morning fellow bloggers! A bit cloudy over the cabin this morning, but the dock is coming along nicely. I can see myself walking out there with my cup of coffee in the morning hearing the waves wash up on shore, and at night with a fire cracking! -My husband an I just love the out of doors, he is gone to camp and I'm going on friday with my son,daughter-in-law and granddaughter, can't wait. We make alot of memoirs, thats what our family is all about.

    WE-Z on April 3, 2013 at 10:15 am
    • Hi WE-Z and Bloggers ALL! Yes, we probably have a mind in synch as time goes by and we get more and more involved with our little cottage. I loved hearing about your family's activities. I was a single parent with three daughters, and our lives were filled with camping trips and road trips, museums, amusement parks, picnics at the playgrounds, season tickets to Carowinds, Tweetsie, etc. Value the time you have now as much as you did when you had the children. I miss my grandchildren more than I can say, more than my own children, because they call and write. Whatever happens, my resolution for 2013 is to get back to those simple times with my grandchildren while they still want to be with me :=). Those teenage years are tough, for they never want to leave their friends…

BrookwoodCarolina on April 3, 2013 at 10:10 pm
    • Good morning ! Read your blog, it makes me sad to here that you don't see your grandchildren. I have a 12 year old and a 20 month old, Maysi and Sofia. Maysi is my stepson's daughter and Sofia is my son daughter. I'm lucky because Maysi likes to be with us all the time she'd be going to camp with us but there's a dance on Friday night. Thing are going to change so you will be able to see your grandchildern!<3<3 We have to make simple times now because sometimes people get caught up in this fast paced world. I try to do things with my grandchildren that my grandparents did with me, it was more fun back then. Go out a play and don't come back until lunch or supper. ( REMEMBER ):D

  5. I wish it were tomorrow already!!! I can't wait to see what gifts we get to vote on…I sure hope one will be for a TELESCOPE for star and planet gazing on those beautiful clear nights from the balcony!!! ;) :D

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today!!! Blessings!!! ^_^:)<3

    Shelly313 on April 3, 2013 at 10:37 am
    • Hi Shelly! A telescope would be a great cabin comfort! I haven't been doing too much posting lately, however, I'm going to use this one for a NEWS UPDATE concerning the NC FERRIES' SYSTEM, which were built in lieu of building lots of bridges. Here's a link to my local Virginia Newspaper, that also reports North Carolina News, since we are neighbors, and thousands of NC residents use our VA services and just live over the border. For those of you interested in the NC Ferries, here's the latest TODAY: http://hamptonroads.com/2013/04/big-toll-nc-walle
Not a happy thing to think of such high fees to use ferries, especially for North Carolinians who take them daily to and from work! Granted, NC historically has to rebuild highways, bridges and repair barrier islands, the fees to use certain ferries, including the ones closest to Blog Cabin are relevant to the winner, so, more food for thought.B):o:)<3 Kitty

  6. Wow! This is looking fantastic!!! I can not wait to see the landscaping . So peaceful, beautiful and calming. Can not wait to take a walk on the pier and throw out a couple of old chicken necks and pull in some crabs. HMMMM are blue crabs found that far south? Anyone know? Almost lunch time! Do you need a license to fish from your own dock in NC?

Ashtabulannie on April 3, 2013 at 11:04 am
    • Yes you do. http://www.ncwildlife.org/ will give you all the info. necesary:)

Clive on April 3, 2013 at 11:21 am
    • Thanks Clive. I know we need a license to hunt deer and elk on our own land. But get a special one because we own more then 25 acres.

      vicki_in_Utah on April 3, 2013 at 1:36 pm
    • OH, YEAH! Just like VA ;=). It will be so wonderful, having the seafood from your own back yard, and along with it veggies and fruit from your own garden and grape vines… paradise.

BrookwoodCarolina on April 3, 2013 at 10:01 pm
    • Sure do,got a couple gallon bags in the freezer now from a neighbor,he had 5-6 boxes and I happened by at the right time.I am about 3 miles from the BC.

  8. I need some help! When I make a comment off to the right hand bottom, it has edit delete and report. How do I get rid of edit and report?

    WE-Z on April 3, 2013 at 12:49 pm
    • I don't think you can. Every comment has the Report function…Edit and Delete are just for you to use. Nobody else can Edit or Delete your comment but you. Of course, a moderator could delete, but not Edit. Hope that helps!

MGYinSC on April 3, 2013 at 1:31 pm
    • Once someone makes a comment to your comment, I think the Edit goes away, you no longer can edit your comment. But the report doesn't go away. That's so if you say something bad another blogger can report you to the administration.

      vicki_in_Utah on April 3, 2013 at 1:32 pm
    • If it is something you posted, you, and only you can see those three choices, so that you may go back and edit or delete your post. All everyone else sees is "Report"

  10. I just saw the coolest thing on the cam. While they 2 guys were working on the dock, I was zoomed in looking at the supervisor (lab) lying on the dock and a dolphin swam by not 25ft off of the end, then the 2 guys stood and watched him for a few minutes. Then the supervisor stood up and watched him also. What do you all think about that?

    540sam on April 3, 2013 at 3:05 pm
    • COOL! I suspected there would be dolphins around at this time of year. Great good fortune to see them on the Cabin Cam. :) xD

Clive on April 3, 2013 at 6:29 pm
    • Yea Clive, they usually follow the shark northerly migration this time of year.

      540sam on April 3, 2013 at 10:07 pm
    • Very cool! I wonder if the workers or the supervisor were surprised by their visitor?

bythebaydreamer on April 3, 2013 at 6:30 pm
    • I dont think anything surprises the supervisor, he didnt seemed too concerned.

      540sam on April 3, 2013 at 10:08 pm
    • Wow! How lucky were you to catch all that! Just imagine if you win, you could be there and watching it all up close and that would be waaaaay cool!

amberPA on April 3, 2013 at 6:48 pm
    • Made me smile to think on it! I have seen the waves dashing up, seen the ducks on the water and the dogs, and even a pelican sitting on the post at the end of the dock one day, but no dolphins. Wow. How gorgeous. Thanks for the word picture…

BrookwoodCarolina on April 3, 2013 at 9:49 pm
    • Yes, just wished I knew how to send it, or post it.
