Meet the Winner of Blog Cabin 2012
Clockwise from top:Josephine and David Turner, a Turner family vacation, Blog Cabin 2012.
Josephine Turner is the proud winner of the Blog Cabin 2012 Giveaway. Her winning entry was received via HGTVRemodels.com on September 26, 2012.
This proud Butler, Ky., native and her husband, David, have been married 49 years and are the proud parents of four children. Ten adorable grandchildren range in age from 2 to 25. “They are truly the joy of my life,” she says.
Josephine, who has participated in the Blog Cabin Giveaway for the past four years, entered the 2012 sweepstakes twice a day, almost every day, throughout the giveaway entry period. She was attracted not only by the home’s location (“Maine is a lot like Kentucky. It’s a beautiful, wooded hilly area,” she says), but the home’s rustic-chic interior design. Her favorite room? The kitchen.
“My head was still spinning,” says Josephine, when recalling the moments immediately following the phone call from DIY Network. “It sounded almost too good to be true. It’s so much to wrap my head around, that I actually won this wonderful gift.”
Josephine has received nothing but support and congrats from her closest friends and family. “They’ve said, ‘It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.’ And to me, that’s a wonderful compliment.”
Her advice for other Blog Cabin enthusiasts? “Keep entering, keep entering,” she says. “The day you skip is the day you might have won.”

The best part about this house is all that nature around it. Nothing beats waking up in the morning and just opening a window for some fresh air.
Congratulations Josephine Enjoy your prize!

Ken, Any luck finding your dream home yet? Are you only looking in Waldoboro? Becky
Hi Becky,
I've benn searching in Lincoln & Knox county. My ideal home would be off he beaten path and away from the road. Any suggestions?
Hi Becky,
So kind of you to check in to see how I am doing. As you know, I've been house hunting for 2.5 yrs and have scoured the entire North East region for the perfect country home, leaving no stone unturned. I was hoping to call Waldoboro, Maine my new home but instead, it looks as though I may be calling Wolfeboro, New Hampshire my new home. This home has everything I've been looking for. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/…
I'm presently in the negotiation phase and am hopeful the owner is willing to come down a bit on her asking price. Will you be attending the open house today?
hi Ken
just to let you know there will be an open house for the 2012 BC on Sunday (tomorrow) don't know if you could make it up here to see it or not. I am hoping to get over there to see it if we are able too.
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda,
Thank you for letting me know about the open house. Sadly, I'm working today and won't be able to attend. Please let me know what the turn out is like if you should stop by. I've been traveling to Wolfeboro, NH recently and believe I have finally found the perfect home for me. Here's the listing. This home has everything I have been looking for. Quiet country road, move in ready, low taxes and only 2 hrs from Boston.

That home looks nice and got a fire place. Not as much land but should do, beside there's a garage too.
The open house went well not to many people showed up that I could tell, a few before us was there. The house was nice inside but seem a little on the small side. Little storage space and small rooms but I still liked it. Took a few pictures I'll try to get them posted in next few days on my site if I can.
I'll write more about what I saw on this site but in the newer posting if you want to go there to hear about it or send me a email off of this site and I can send it there.
Rhonda
Hi Ken,
are you getting that home? It's really cute! Was they willing to come down in price a little for You? I hope you did if you really liked it. We are all wondering if you found and got your dream home yet?
The Down Eastern train now goes from Brunswick to Boston so you can look in that area too if you are still looking for a home in Maine, that way you could take train to work and not have to drive. I have taken it and it's not a bad ride at all, goes though some cute little towns.
Best of Luck
Rhonda
Ken, The house your going to see looks like an old school house. It has so much character! Good luck! I hope its the home that you have been looking for. Keep us posted. Becky

Becky,
I went to see the old grange hall and it had everything I've been looking for. Unfortunately, it had no foundation or heating source. Truly a summer cottage that needs 40-50K to make it a year round residence. The search continues…..
Ken
congratulations! I would love a get away to a cabin during the snowy season or one on the beach…I live in Tennessee and it is beautiful but were I live it's just about the same season year round….just a little colder in 1winter and little hotter in summer. I love to travel and experience new places too so it would be awesome. Enjoy
As good as the house itself is, I'm really liking all that open space around it. That should make for lots of fun family bonding time.
