The Blog Cabin 2012 Winner Drawing
Yes, indeed, fans. We randomly selected the winner of the Blog Cabin 2012 Giveaway! For those curious about the drawing process, please watch the following video. Just a note: Lottery balls numbered one through five designate mail-in entries and lottery balls numbered six through 542 designate online entries. When the representative selects the ball, she reads its batch number to know whether to head to a specific bin, dump its contents on the floor and pull out one mail-in entry or head to the computer to type in the batch number and let the computer randomly select one online entry. It’s all pretty serious business!
We will announce the name of the winner in late October. Keep checking back here for details!

Thanks for the update. Congratulations to whoever was picked winner. Enjoy!
Once again this year, despite all of my hard work submitting those daily entries, it seems Someone Else has been chosen as the winner of the Blog Cabin.
As others have noted, DIY was a little early this year with the drawing, although there's usually several days between the drawing date and the phone call or notification to the winner, so it's hard to say for sure whether Someone Else was already called and given the great news or not. I guess we'll find out on October 23rd.
Any more clues, MARY? North, East, South or West? How about the actual state? Just a little hint, maybe?
On a side note, MARY says in the video that there are always lots of questions about how the drawing is conducted, and, in her words, states "…So we decided THIS YEAR [my emphasis] we were actually going to take fans inside the fulfillment house and show them step-by-step exactly how we choose the winner."
In her written comments above, she says there were five actual mail-in bins (Lottery balls numbered one through five designate mail-in entries) which is consistent with the five bins shown in the video. That would seem to confirm that the video was taken from this year's drawing for Blog Cabin 2012. And the phone call to the winner where a female voice answers? Was this the actual winner being notified already, or were Mary and the DIY rep merely calling in a lunch order for delivery? Time for truth or consequences….
Coop, seems like it's time to become Someone Else's friend. He or she is on a hot streak. As long as I've been entering HGTV/DIY sweeps, he/she has never lost!
Come to think of it, Lessie, you're absolutely right — Someone Else wins these HGTV/DIY sweeps EVERY TIME!
I'd be willing to change my name to Someone Else II if all the legal stuff wasn't such a hassle. Besides, I'd feel kind of generic if I became known as Someone Else instead of D B Coop….
Guess I'll just keep trying like Everyone Else… year after year after year….
Good one, Lessie!
Haven't heard from you online for a long time! xD^_^ Kitty
DIY does do a great job at conceiling the winner I must say. It did appear that this was this years drawing. Now they can get all the signatures needed so their info can be released to all of us non-winners.
I was hoping the winner came out of the mail in bins, I wanted to see them dump them all on the floor and pick out a winner LOL…
So did I especially since I sent in 500 entries. Congratulations to the winner, so very happy for them!
Oh wow Jenni, you really did do your part. Too bad, if this was the real drawing that would of been so much fun to watch.
Yes, I would have liked to see the drawing from the mail-in entries as well. I mailed about 3,000 entries! I had a bad case of Blog Cabin Fever this year and went a little overboard. Truly, I would love to be living "mortgage-free" in a BC. Maybe next year, God willing.
I have also wanted to see them dump a bin of mail-in entries. I have never mailed in an entry but if I’m going to lose anyway that way I’d know right away and it would be fun to see someone crawling around blindfolded in a pile of autumn leaves/letters.
Greetings Vicki! LOL!
Like playing in the big piles of leaves when we were kids!!
Sounds like fun but not sure it would go over well with the fans! A BIG JUMP AND HIGH FIVE FOR THE WINNER
Truly Lilly
I didn't relize how many people sent in mail in entrys until i saw those 5 big bins full. I could just see Mary diving in to pick a winner…LOL
It has been fun blogging and helping design the cabin renovations. hopefully someone who was a regular won and the rest of us can look forward to helping again in 2013. Be safe enjoy the fall & winter…see you in the BC 2013 blog.
Thank you Mary and the DIY Team for the opportunity to be part of the design and transformation of the Blog Cabin. It has been a great experience. I have enjoyed sharing in the conversation and fellowship with fellow bloggers. I have learned things about Waldoboro that I never knew, and I am anxious to travel there and explore more of this wonderful community. Congratulations, God Bless, and all the best to the winner of the Blog Cabin 2012 . I hope that you will enjoy being the "next generation" in this recreated house, being able to make it your own home for generations to come. <3<3<3
You Lucky person!!!
Mary, I like you! Good to give your name a face! Thanks for the explanation. Sure hope the winner is super happy because that's how I would feel as an HGTV/DIY winner!
Congratulations to the 2012 Blog Cabin Winner!!! Hope your life is forever changed for the better!!!
Congrats to the winner !!! I kinda' think 'the' phone call was an act; they were showing the process; she said winner to be phoned later that afternoon, it's just past noon in the west !! So, that makes me think that the real call hasn't been made yet !!?? Just an observation ! Anyway, a Great BIG Congrats to the name that was drawn !!!
You are sure keeping the hope alive. I did see that even though the posting says the 11th you can see that it was actually composed on the 10th at a little before 5:30pm. This would give the winner a little time to calm down. They probably are sworn to secrecy till the official name is given.
Congratulations on being chosen for this wonderful home in Waldoboro, Maine. I may not have won the BC, but i am still a winner. I have met some of the nicest people (bloggers) who have brought so many rays of sunshine into my life each day. Thanks for all the smiles and thanks Diy. God's blessings on each of you.
Cindy, We are all winners! Thank you for your too for the kind words and "rays of sunshine". May God's blessing be on you as well.<3
Thank you by the bay.Have a blessed day.
As lovely as the property in Waldoboro is, the blogging community has really been the best part of BC contest all year . We have really had a lot of fun !
Yes we did ll. God bless you.
TO EVERYONE:
I agree with Cindy, LLColeman and Bythebaydreamer that we've all been blessed!!! What a great year of friendship and laughter, curiosity and hope; we've mourned with some and encouraged some–it has been a family Blog and I cannot begin to express my gratitude enough! This has been my first time blogging ever and I have cherished every moment! Thank you, each, as well as DIY Network employees, for enriching my life! May God's blessings, health, provisions and love be poured upon each of you and yours, for if I could give you a thank you gift for all that you all mean to me it would be that: showers and showers of Divine blessings, for they are powerful, and I am simply, your friend, Kitty<3
