The Blog Cabin 2012 Winner Drawing

Yes, indeed, fans. We randomly selected the winner of the Blog Cabin 2012 Giveaway! For those curious about the drawing process, please watch the following video. Just a note: Lottery balls numbered one through five designate mail-in entries and lottery balls numbered six through 542 designate online entries. When the representative selects the ball, she reads its batch number to know whether to head to a specific bin, dump its contents on the floor and pull out one mail-in entry or head to the computer to type in the batch number and let the computer randomly select one online entry. It’s all pretty serious business! We will announce the name of the winner in late October. Keep checking back here for details!

  1. I am so confused, I didn't get a call yet, but I know from how the cheerios were arranged in my cereal bowl that I won, what is up with that? Did anybody enter for Sasquatch? Could have used Sammy "The Wild Thing" Sasquatch as his name. Oh well, next year is another chance. Best of luck to whoever won, I sincerely hope that you can figure out financially how to keep and enjoy the beautiful Cabin.

    • Good to hear from you, Frank. Wish I had thought of entering as a Sasquatch. LOL ;)

    • I didn't think of it until I was watching a show on finding Sasquatch…would have been a hoot if he was picked. Hope that all is well in your world. We are just starting to feel a little cooler down here, yet there are 2 tropical systems in the works. Oh well…hope that you have a great holiday season and don't eat too much turkey and stuffing.

  3. Well everyone the new fall pictures are up on my web site for those wanting to see them. The place looks like it's waiting for the new owner to come and put the holidays colors on it. Pumpkin or 2 on the front step or out front of the house, a few cornstalks would look good there too (front of house that is). The leaves are falling and soon the yard will need to be raked up.
The No Trespassing signs are out again; so I didn't get but a few pictures this time. I didn't want to trespass! Beside I didn't want to mark up the grass after all the rain we had, so the new owner could do that for them self.
I put in a few pictures of the town of Wiscasset too, we got stuck on the bridge because of an accident. So I shot a few of the scenery there. So I hope you enjoy them, this well be the last time we go by there unless the new owners invite us to visit and want to show us the house.

    • Hi Rhonda! I can't begin to tell you how great the new Fall photos you took of BC are! I looked at them wistfully this time, knowing that the winner has been selected and it wasn't I or you, or to my knowledge, any of my dear Bloggie friends–and that makes me sad. I had hoped…. I wish you great success with your Doll and Little Girl clothes, Story Books, Reborn Dolls, and all that you do at the craft shows and online!!! You are so talented, Rhonda! And you have brought so much positiveness to our Blog and I want to thank you for who you are and all your contributions. God Bless You!xD:*<3Kitty

    • I am glad you like them, it is kind of sad knowing it is all over for us, but the winner get's a new place to call home if that's what they want. Maybe it's one of the bloggers here, we should know tomorrow. Then we can see where next year blog cabin will be. Thanks, I enjoy blogging with the rest of you and it was fun too. I am glad I was able to share with you all and that I could take part in helping to make this house a home.

Thanks about what you said about my crafts, it's nice to see that folks enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them.

Did you get my last e-mail with the picture I send you? Just wondering for you didn't reply back about it.

  4. Hi Rhonda, I just saw the Fall Photos….Thank you so much! Love all the Barn pics even though the sun wasn't out, the Maples were still beautiful. My favorite pic is the Barn with the mowed grass, the Flag flying and the Maple…. Did you notice in the photo–Autumn comes to Blog Cabin…the sky is blue peaking through the clouds to the left over the tree and over the BC, the sky is green peeking through…The Maine skies never cease to amaze me..Just lovely skies….All the photos show how beautiful the Farmhouse and land is…..This Barn is my favorite! I look forward to seeing the new Homeowner and hear her reaction to winning this beautiful home..Thank you again for going out of your way, with such a busy schedule, to take these photos!! I hope you sell all your crafts during these craft shows. I know it's a lot of work, But it's very rewarding. I did craft shows for about 3yrs and finally gave it up because It got to be too much for me…Plus I had a Craft Shop….I loved doing shows and meeting so many nice people!

    Jennie/Florida on October 22, 2012 at 10:18 am
    • Your welcome Jennie, just to bad it wasn't a nice sunny day. The sun was shining at my home before we left, but not over that way when we got there. It even was colder over that way had to get my jacket out and put it on. Yes we got patches of color a few times when the clouds moved, but mostly gray skies.
I love barns too, so I just had to take pictures from both sides of it, House I got what I could without trespassing.
I had to go by my mother's home to see how she was doing and get some yard work done before the snow flies, so I couldn't spend to much time there.
I don't have a shop, only my web site & the craft shows I do. I do like getting out there and meeting new people and sharing stories with them.

  5. Many folks on the blog understandably gettng anxious, even a little ansty, waiting – it seems for ever – for DIY to announce the winner. However, just imagine what it's been like for that winner since they received the call 12 days ago. The joy; the excitement; the nervousness while Riteway check that they are eligile to receive the prize. Making decisions on whether to keep or sell, financial advice, deciding whether to uproot from their present home and relocate to Waldoboto. Planning a visit to inspect the house. Looking for possible employment and / or schools and a whole host of other things while not being able to divulge the secret to anyone. Then there's how to handle the inevitable celebrity and the many demands, requests etc. from well wishers and 'others'. I know I would be fit to burst about now and probably a little terrified too. Let's hope for their sake that DIY reveal the winner soon. ^_^

Clive on October 22, 2012 at 11:15 am
    • All excellent points, Clive! Then looking for the mortgage! Ah! That's the biggie–if you already have one on existing home, and in current market environment banks and mortgage companies have been so tight, I feel for the winner, out shopping for that! Employment in or near Waldoboro is scarce and mostly rural. Better if Winner is retired, as are most resident on Dutch Neck, according to Camac. others are lobstermen, farmers, etc. If winner is a teacher, that could be a boon. Good teachers are always a blessing! There is so much, as Clive listed to work through, for whoever wins, and winning isn't cheap or easy, at the outset….:SxD:p Kitty

  7. My sister, a friend and I were planning a trip to the coast ( We live in Western Maine) so we decided to make a detour and drive by the Blog Cabin 2012 to check it out 'in person'. We were really impressed with what we could see of the remodel and landscaping- very professional looking and very 'Maine'. It's located on a small side road and there's a boat dock fairly close – both good things for a relaxing vacation retreat. We did notice that some of the properties in the immediate area are either for sale or neglected. All in all, the DIY Blog Cabin 2012 is amazing, and we look forward to their next project. Congrats to the lucky winner and better luck next time to everybody else!

Maine is such a beautiful State and the Mainers' already gets to enjoy all the great things that Maine has to offer…Why not want someone else from out of state to win and give them the opportunity enjoy Maine also??? • One of my sons has a computer repair business (he does nights, weekends, and makes house and office calls) is soo busy he has to turn off his phone at times. He says he swears he has runs of computers with the same problem in consecutive house calls. He had 3 video cards to replace Saturday.

Nebraska on October 22, 2012 at 9:58 pm
    • gremol, I have had several things go wrong or as I say kaflewy with my computer in the last year. I don't have the knowledge to fix them myself, and depend on my son rescuing me when he visits. He fixes my computer in less time than it takes for me to goof it up….so glad he can do that otherwise I would be "off line" even more then I am. lol. Good luck getting things straightened out.:)
