The Blog Cabin 2012 Winner Drawing
Yes, indeed, fans. We randomly selected the winner of the Blog Cabin 2012 Giveaway! For those curious about the drawing process, please watch the following video. Just a note: Lottery balls numbered one through five designate mail-in entries and lottery balls numbered six through 542 designate online entries. When the representative selects the ball, she reads its batch number to know whether to head to a specific bin, dump its contents on the floor and pull out one mail-in entry or head to the computer to type in the batch number and let the computer randomly select one online entry. It’s all pretty serious business!
We will announce the name of the winner in late October. Keep checking back here for details!

I am very happy for whom ever won, its wonderful to dream!!
To Mel:
You were given credit for finding and posting this link. http://youtu.be/QlH67sMa3L0
LLColeman posted it one the HGTV Smart Home sight. I have not laughed that much in ages.
I just wanted to thank you for finding and posting it.
Boy do I feel silly. I was going through old posts trying to find Mel and when I realized he wasn’t logged into Intense Debate I thought I’d just write a thank you note. THEN I continued to read the newer posts to find out Mel had just re-posted it.
Oh well, I guess you can’t have too much of a good thing.
Don't feel silly Eugenia27
I only post over here on the DIY site. I haven't wanted to register on Intense Debate because my blogging name "Mel" isn't available.
I'm glad you got some good laughs from the video. Chris Grundy is a natural Comedian! I'm also glad LLColeman is sharing it and others are enjoying it.
When I first started posting I was just plain old Eugenia. When I got on Intense Debate I found out there are more of "Me" out there than I thought. I just kept trying my name with one of my favorite numbers following it.
That has it's advantages. Some people think I'm only 27 years old. Little do they know.
Eugenia27, adding numbers to my blog name is a great idea.
Maybe in the future I will become Mel21
I don't! xD
a winner your taxes are going up. good luck living in a out dated house. 1884 really!
You'd probably be happier on the blogs for HGTV. They have contests for 3 home giveaways, and they are all new builds and very contemporary. Some of us LOVE homes built in the 1800's— everyone has personal tastes. If you enter the two new contests there ( Dream Home 2013 and SmartHome 2013 ), I wish you the best of luck.
Daniel, the Winner has the right to choose whether to move into and keep, or to sell, this completely remodeled, sparkling farmhouse! You, also have the choice to enter any contest where you think the prize meets your taste. If this Blog Cabin was not for you, fine, and as LLColeman suggested, go to the contests where the prizes are more contemporary and your style. Good luck there! No need to leave a negative trail along the way though. We wish you well!

That is one gorgeous house. Congrats to the winner, I hope it is truly a life changing windfall!
.Has anyone heard who thevlucky winner is?
Hi Ken…..It looks as though Mary is going to keep us hanging by our Nails until the 23rd, the date she said the winner would be announced! She said for us to keep checking back here for details..
It seems like months since the drawing…I would like to know who the lucky winner is, so we can formally congratulate them. Then it's time to move on to the location for the next Blog Cabin. We have given Mary our favorite picks as to where the next BC should be located and suggested we get to vote for our favorite. But DIY has probably chosen the location already and has a done deal…We shall see.
Did you happen to go by the BC and get some Fall Photos that you could share with us..Home girl will post them for you, just let her know…She is busy with her Craft shows and hasn't had the time to go by there……I would love the see all the fall colors around the Barn and Home. Please continue to blog with us…Mary will give us more threads to keep us going and start us on our next adventure to the 2013 BC!!!
The weather has been so overcast and rainy the last few weeks that the colors around the BC aren't that spectacular. Of course if you're in a place where you don't get the fall leaf colors, then it wold still be worth seeing. There are a lot of yellows and the oaks still have a lot of green/ yellow.
Hi Camac, our oak leaves are green then turn brown…No color in between. My Maple is green with a touch of red on the tip ends, but then they turn brown with no pretty colors to enjoy. Did you feel the Earthquake last week??? I bet that was surprising…Was that the first in Maine? They said there was no damage…I was glad to hear that!!
Hi Carole I hope you had a nice Christmas this year. My was nice with my children and all, we all had a nice time together. I hope you have a nice new year too.
Well did you see any life signs over at the BC over the holidays? Or was all quiet as a mouse? Was just wondering, if it was the Turners that put the message out here saying they would put it up for sale in Jan. Seem like something will be happening over there soon if they did. Could you let us know here when the for sale sign goes up? Ken Day is really wanting to know, even if he can't afford it, he would still like to give an offer for it I think?
Thanks Rhonda
Hi Rhonda, I did not see anything about the Turners planning to sell , but there also has been no sign of activity until earlier this week when the front walk and the drive in front of the barn were shoveled. Other than that, nothing. If I had won, I would at least want to see the place or check out the furnishings to see if I wanted to use anything. I don't know if they drained the water to prevent freezing pipes or if they are keeping it minimally heated. The lighting in the deck steps still seems to come on at night, but otherwise no sign of life. I'll try to let you know if anything changes.Carole
thanks Carole for getting back with me, I would of wanted to see the home if I won it. If you look where She posted here you can see what she had to say. Then 2 post after that John asked her when she going to sell, she replys there, or someone with her blog name!
Maybe they are getting it ready to sell, need a clean walkway for that. I wouldn't mind having the place, but little out of my price range.
Did you check out the new BC in NC? They have the new floor plans up now, really cute smaller than this BC.
Rhonda
Rhonda, I stopped following the blog once the winner was announced- didn't even realize anyone was still on it. i took a quick look at the blog entries but didn't see where the winner had posted anything. Right now I better go get some wood cut if I want to have heat- have a wonderful week.Carole

it's on meet the winner 2nd page about the middle says Josephine Turner replys.
I been watching blog cabin for a few years but didn't join until saw that it was in maine and my neck of the woods.
Still following a little cause I like to vote and see the changes.
You have a nice week too and stay warm it's cold out there lately. You don't mine me passing along what you say do you? Folk keep asking and I don't get over that way very much any more now my daughter not in 4-H.
Rhonda
Hi Carole,
Josephine said she just now own the home and that she hopes she and some of her family can come visit it before she has to sell it because of taxes.
I guess it takes a long time for things to get settled after you win, that's sad they could of enjoyed it over the holidays, no wonder no one been there.
if you want to read the rest of what was writting look under the winner is…
Rhonda
Thanks, Rhonda, for getting me back in the loop. I did read through the recent entries. There is still no For Sale sign and no other sign of activity.
Jennie,

I got by the BC this weekend and took some pictures, they should be posted on my web site sometime Monday morning I hope. You can keep checking or I'll let you know when they are there.
It was an gray sky day, so the pictures don't show the colors like it should have, but you can still see the colors a little.
I love the one of the barn I took, and there are a few good ones of the house. The place had NO Trespassing signs up on both sides of the road, so I only took pictures of the front, didn't want to trespass there.
I was hoping the new owner would be there; so she could invite me in to see the house, but no luck there. This will be my last trip there, unless the new home owner invites me back to see the house with her.
I also put a few pictures of the town of Wiscasset on there for all to see the colors over there. We got stuck on the bridge because of an accident, so I took a few pictures of church, lobster boat taking in his trap and of a train that went by.
I hope you all get to enjoy them, I left old ones up too, so you can see the BC in the different colors of the seasons.
my web site is at yourespecialtoo.com the BC house is on the bottom of home page for those that don't know it. I'll post again when they are there.
Rhonda
Rhonda, I hope business has been good for you. I can imagine that this is the "busy" season for you with all the craft shows. I appreciate you taking the time to take the pictures. I look forward to seeing the pictures. With the new owner being chosen it will be interesting to see if they keep the BC or sell it. If I had won it I would have had it as "a keeper". Will check out your website.:)<3
Thanks bythebaydreamer I am doing well so far this year, been pretty busy too. Got to get back to sewing for I am running out of a few things. Seems all the dolls need Jacket or coat this year to keep warm. I only got 2 more shows set up to do, I'll have to see if I can find a few more closer to Christmas.
I left it open in case we won a new house and we had to travel to see it.
I would of wanted to keep it if we won, but unless we got money too we would have to of sold it because we couldn't afford to keep it. So I guess that's why we didn't win. I wouldn't have wanted to give it up, God knew that, so that's why someone else won it.
Hi Jennie,
http://web.stagram.com/n/kendayjr
I made the trip up 3 weeks ago and took a few photos of the front yard. I was happy to see they replaced the dead plants with a beautiful arrangement of mums. I have plans to return to the area next week to look at a home in Union and will make a point to stop by BC one more time. Hopefully, the new owner will be there and invite me in.
Thank you Ken for sharing, great pics…. It would be wonderful if the new Homeowner invited you to tour this home that you wanted so badly…..maybe say a farewell goodbye and let go! Then you can really get serious about finding your Dream Home in Maine!!
Looks as though they might have changed the plants again…As I recall, the first replacement of flowers were yellow and orange mums for fall, now I see pink flowers again but with yellow..whats going on? Am I seeing things?
Ken, wonderful photos, as always ! Thanks so much for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed them. Even though I wasn't the lucky winner I truly enjoyed my travels to Maine and getting lost in the dream. Cheers!
Ken
I wonder if the winner has been surprised yet. Wouldn't it be fun if HGTV surprised the winner on Halloween, and the HGTV host wore a Halloween costume. Trick or Treat?
DIY don't do surprises or ambushes. The winner was notified by phone on Oct 10th. By now they should have completed all the bacjkground checks and legal requirements. I expect we'll be told, officially, some time next week. Patience is the word of the day.:)
Congrats, To the winner
Well fellow bloggers it won't be long now before DIY announces the name of the winner of blog cabin. I have enjoyed reading and sharing with fellow bloggers. What a great group you all are. The new owner of the blog cabin is so fortunate to be the recipient of all of your great ideas and suggestions. Wishing the new owner many years of happiness. Congratulations, best wishes, and God Bless you in your new home!<3:)
Hello DIY Blog Home Winner! Hoping to see your smiling face soon!
