Read the latest Remodeling of Blog Cabin 2012 article on HGTVRemodels.com to find out why our adorable high-posted cape and other homes of its era were built on hills and how today’s homeowners can mitigate resulting backyard slopes.

  3. Patience for a bit longer.
On-line entries close in a few days, then there is a wait for postmarked entries to arrive, and then "The Grand Prize Winner will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries on approximately October 15, 2012 by Ritway, Inc., an independent judging organization, (“Sweepstakes Administrator”) and will be contacted either in person or by overnight courier and phone on or about October 19, 2012."
Stay close to home folks! Don't miss the messenger. Start practicing signing your name on lots of documents!

  4. Has anybody spotted the mirror that Grundy was "cleaning" out in the yard? I still think he took it with him.

    • It's in the guest bedroom. Photos 5 & 8 show it clearly with a new wooden frame.:)

    • Frank, Grundy had to clean the mirror because he found it out near the barn after Bigfoot "borrowed" the mirror to see his reflection….;)

  7. I'm so excited that it is almost time to find out who wins this beautiful piece of work! My dreams every night are always about my Honey and I waiting for our children to pull in with all the grandchildren for a long weekend of being together in this wonderful home! Have you been to Maine yet? The air is so fresh, the water is clear & crisp and the people who live there are so friendly. Good Luck everyone but I have to say I hope my Honey and I win it!! You'll hear my screens all the way to California…

  9. As we wait for a new post, you may be interested to know that even though we had Teddy Roosevelt as U.S. President, now TEDDY BEAR the porcupine has decided to run as an independent candidate for U.S. President
–come to think of it, he would save taxpayers a little money. As President, Teddy would only need to be paid with fresh corn, and he would not need to keep bodyguards–he is his OWN Dept. of Defense. He would not require a special pen for signing bills–he has his own supply of quills….I think he could probably get congress to behave better, also …just walk around the senate floor, pointing those sharp quills at uncooperative politicos.
Asked in his interview what he would do about the fiscal deficit, Teddy Bear clearly says , " Cut it ! " but then goes back to gobbling corn and mumbling answers, LOL :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3tevaPMz1I&fe… I just wonder, how did they put a necktie on a porcupine ??

    • LOL! There is a very cute book written by a Maine author, whose name slips my mind, I think back in the 70s: "How do You Spank a Porcupine?" It is the true story of a Maine family which adopts an orphan porcupine, Dad being a forestry ranger (and it's illegal) but he knows there is no better living solution for the tiny ball of prickles' if they fess up and turn him in, so they hide and raise him…darling story! Out of print, but one of my favorites. :pxD<3 Kitty

  10. After visiting the Blog Cabin a few days ago, I must say I am more excited to win this beautiful home. The walk to the shore is a little further than I had imagined. The landscaping is beautiful beyond words. It will mean a big change in our lives, as we would love to retire in Waldoboro. It would allow me to bring my elderly parents to live with us, as the home is plenty spacious for two families. We are all native Mainers thus the cabin would get plenty of use with family get together's and holidays.
