Hello Faithful Bloggers,
I have a secret to share with you. In seven days**, the DIYnetwork.com you’ve come to know so well will come to an end. And as a phoenix that rises from the ashes of the old website, a new DIYnetwork.com will emerge.
Please click on the link above (or here) for a preview of the new site. I can’t begin to tell you how excited we are. Site functionality, search, images, step-by-step projects, video – everything is upgraded. In fact, it’s a whole new site. Like a 1974 Mercedes vs. a 2009 Mercedes, only the name will be the same.
The Blog Cabin Blog will not be affected, however. You’ll notice that the URL for this blog (blog.diynetwork.com/blog cabin) won’t change. So no worries. If we hit a pothole at some point in the wee hours of June 24 (with the site due to launch at some point before sunrise Thursday, June 25), I’ll be here to tend to it.
And then we can get back to the business of Blog Cabin. I hope to have blog entries from DIY Network experts and hosts who have visited Blog Cabin recently posted soon. And thank you again for your patience as we move forward. It’s been a long summer (and it’s not even officially summer yet!), but the best is yet to come. Stay tuned.
Best,
Watson, DIYnetwork.com Manager
** Date subject to change, but fingers crossed.

Will I, won’t I be the first? Thanks Watson for the new thread and sneak peek of the new site.
Wow! Thanks Watson!! I am looking forward to the new and much improved website!!! And thanks for the new thread.
Hallelujah! And THANKS — MAJOR thanks — Watson! What great news!
Rob S,
I saw two places on the back patio where the rain is washing the soil away..they almost look like tunnels.
I posted this on the previous blog just before closure but thought it could be repeated here: -
“Wow, look at that erosion at the back. I wonder how Ahmed is going to fix that problem? There seems to be a lot of rain again today too and that erosion hole under the stairs has appeared since yesterday.”
Well, hello Watson, So there you are! I guess you website construction workers are on a quick break! Coffee up and get a sugar hype and hurry along. We are SECHI & looking forward to the new website coming. We thank you and your helpers very much. Especially looking forward to the much anticipated updates! The blog cabin looks to be getting as much rain as we are in KY. I see a small waterfall or creek in the front view today up on the hill to the right, washing straight toward the house where I think the carport is going. Maybe Ahmed can terrace some landscaping there and build in a nice drainage system hidden in it. I am concerned the drainage is washing right over the drop off there to the basement floor. I feel for those workers having to wade the mud, it’s been storming crazy around here too, we keep having to dodge tornado warnings around here, 2 yesterday alone and at the same time and 10 min. north and 10 min. south of me, talking about having a nervous break down & freaking out! Now that scared the meaness right out of me. You’d think we picked up Ky and went west to tornado alley. Oh well we know God holds us all in his hands. He’s in control!
Carrie,
I have a feeling that you forgot what was said about the carport. This is from the Question & Answers with Cam:
Kitty Haugen asked:
Why are they building a carport vs. a garage?
Cam:
Actually we are building a unique tool storage/workshop facility, as this is more advantageous to the winners. This will allow the winners to build a carport and/or garage. We just want to ensure the winner has final options, and is not boxed in to our decisions. The thought process is simple- until we determine a winner, its hard to determine their needs.
Kathy Seals: I think some of the confusion (mine included concerning the carport) comes from the following blog by Phillip Richardson of Greenstone Builders: -
“The carport will be towards the front of the house off to the right(when facing the house. This placement of the carport should not hinder views from any room in the house. Also the seeding that was done is temporary to control erosion”.
Phillip Richardson on May 19th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
Yippeeeeeeeeeeee! I’m glad everything is coming along! Thanks for the news of the upgrade. All the best to all!
