Hi,

I have heard that it is quite common to have made to measure windows arrive on site, made to the wrong size although the window company has physically measured openings prior to manufacture. Are you aware of any measuring techiques or aids that avoid this.

Regards

Hope you all had a nice Mother's Day. I was looking at the "cam" shot today. It looks like they are putting ledgestone around the windows/door on the bottom floor instead of the siding that was in the original sketch. Maybe they ended up with more stone and less siding when they purchased materials. Either way, I'm sure it will look great. Watson, we are still waiting to hear about the outdoor cooking area (up or downstairs) and we'd LOVE to see some more shots of the inside.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

I'm sure we won't be able to get too close to the house, from the tour, but we'll do our best to describe what we see. We will be staying near Black Mountain, if anyone has experience there, and would like to recommend (less known) local attractions, please do.

Cheryl K, where in Ohio are you? We are NW of Columbus, near Marysville.

Hey there. Just a comment for Ahmed. When you start doing the landscaping on those "rolling hills" remember that they look good all nice and green in pictures, but somebody has to mow those things. Take it from a girl that just finished mowing one of those "rolling NC hills", it ain't that fun. I must admit that the results on the "glutes" is rather agreeable, but I think I prefer a gym membership with some AC. Remember Ahmed, chances are that she (yes, the house is in NC and there is about a 95% chance that "she" will be handling the yardwork no matter what type of mower it is) is not going to have nice thoughts about you when she is walking/riding (depending on the slope of the hill) up and down those hills. Retaining walls and planting beds look really nice from the back of a mower!! Just a reminder from the "yard crew" of our family!!

Linda, thank you for explaining it nice and slow and waiting till after I had my coffee. I wish ANYBODY would show up here and pitch in with my yard work. I have ferns wanting to grow all over my lawn-with the dandelions and wild violets. I have a huge garden I can't plant yet cause it is too wet. I think I"m gonna go back to bed...
