Kelly: With all due respect I think you have the wrong sweepstakes. This is the Blog Cabin not your inflated price for the Dream Home. Again, you inflate potential winnings and try to scare people who believe they will win with 'the IRS is coming to get you' line. That aside a smart scammer would avoid the obvious and be more subtle so your comment on 'guaranteed' is irrelevant.

If you are considering advertising, on this site it's very easy. Just go to the bottom of the home page and contact Scripps telling them what you want, how you want it etc. and pay their fees. Nothing could be simpler if you have the funds. I would suggest advertising on this page about 4 months ago (or as soon as you had the idea) would have been a good way to start a company specifically targeting these sorts of sweepstakes. However, I do hope your company funds and the money you are holding in money market accounts for the winners taxes are invested safely. These days who knows which bank or insurer will fail next? You may have a winner one day and I'll say "well done" for such a philanthropic gesture. However, I'll keep my $21 and enter a free sweepstakes with as much chance as the other 3-4 million entrants. I'll worry about tax later. After all, it's 'free' money and if we go around getting upset about how much more we could have won what a sad world this would be. Why enter in the first place if you are never going to be satisfied with what you get at the end?

If we win, sell the cabin and pay taxes on what we realize from the sale (which is actually how it works - and not worry about the ARV), we'll still be better-off than we were before. It's not as thought we worked hard and sweated for that money so I doubt that we'll spend our time 'missing' it. Rather, we'll be planning what we will do with what we actually do have to improve our lives.

Kelly I appreciate you trying to do unclestan for us hgtvr's and diyers. I certainly see it could work eventually. But you must understand that people do get scammed all the time by similar programs and are very cautious and really should be cautious in this day and time. I'm certainly happy though this blogcabin is only valued at $750,000 The ARV is listed under the sweepstakes rules. It'll make it much easier than the dream home would be to get help via a bank or willing individual loaner, getting a loan and possibly keep it or hold onto bc until making the sale if one needs to. Yes I do realize it becomes extra responsibility once one wins it. I hope that if the unclestan program works that hgtv and diy will back it up and post it on their websites. I certainly could use the help financially but don't want to invest into anything without proof of it working first or at least see a legally binding contract for those that participate in unclestan, with a website showing a running total of what total is needed for the tax total prize for each catergory we are putting our $ toward and what has been added to it. Proof makes things work much better than hearsay. I do wish you luck and just maybe in the future I will put my 2 cents into the pot. But not just yet! It would be hard enough responsibility just trying to get the $ for the taxes for the house than adding more cash winning taxes to the debt as well. Thank you though. maybe next sweeps.

hello everyone! This is Kelly, co-founder of Myunclestan. I've read some quite interesting comments about the website. Let me point out Jim Brown's first. You are absolutely right about your assertion Jim and that is why I felt obligated to create this program. Carrie Miracle, lets assume you won the house and you do take out a loan. Maybe WAMU or any other trustworthy bank that we have come to trust with our money. Yes, you just won a multi-million dollar house but, you still have the same income. Using the value of 2.5 million as an example of the value of the home, you would pay approximately $875,000 on just federal taxes alone. So, you take out a loan for 1 million to cover the taxes. Imagine the interest rate the trustworthy bank will charge on this plus remember you still have the same income prior to winning. If you default on the loan, the bank takes the house and the IRS still wants its share. You would have better odds selling and less headache to deal with until now. It is a lot easier winning cash than property because taxes are taken out first. Time is against you with property because decisions have to be made before April 15 or else you will be dealing with penalties & interest on a large sum of money and this could put you further in a hole. Now for Clive, you seem to be well respected in the bloggers community and many value your opinion. However, it is your opinion about the website and not a fact. We are not a scam and I don't believe in taking advantage of people. Most of the things mentioned by some of you are not hidden on the website and can be found on the FAQ's page. Yes there will be taxes owed on the amount given, that's stated. We try to be as open and provide as much resourceful information as possible to help you decide. There is no easy solution to winning these mega prizes unless you are already rich but, myunclestan is a start. We started this company this year so, we don't have a winner to announce now but, as the membership continues to climb, we will eventually get there. Think about this Clive.
If we really had intentions of scamming people, we would have had the word GUARANTEED in bold flashing letters across the website. This would definitely be more appealing if a commitment like that was made. As a start up, we can't guarantee nearly 1 million will be paid for taxes unless we raise it. It is our goal to have the word in bold flashing letters because we can then stand by it. So, look for our advertistment on these sweepstake sponsors websites in the near future and whether you join or not...good luck in a few days to come.

BlognBob, I think the flag is a beautiful touch to this cabin! In our home...I have a portion set up in a red, white and blue theme. I really like the God Bless America box that houses our family photos. So...red, white and blue is always a + in our book!
Helen, I made my hubby a Macadamia waffle this morning since there wasn't any school today either. Otherwise he gets the special omelets made with basil and tomatoes from our garden on the deck. Breakfast IS the most important meal of the day.
Checking out the new thread.....

Hi All, I wanted to say THANK YOU! to you all who have been so nice to me and my family. Thank You Carrie for the run down and for you and others who have told me about the Finale. WOW! That shocked me and Jerri ! Since my computer doesn't process the the videos anymore I will have to wait to see it. I am so thankful for their kind words and especially to Misty&Rich for taping this for me.
You know, I thought I had posted earlier and for some reason my post isn't here? Oh, I probably forgot to hit the send button. Silly me.
NOTE TO SELF: Never mention food and horse in the same sentece when Misty is riding shotgun. She might be packin a gat.
I don't really use that terminology. Just sounded more authentic.
Looks like a new thread ! See you all there.

Hi all!! Sheila & her husband just left. It was like Sheila and I have been old friends for years. I also played the last blog home show I dvr'd from Thursday. Matt and Darryl got along great too, they spent most of their time checking out the tools, and checking out our dock, as they still have to build a dock yet, on the house they built. Katie had made a peach cake this morning for them too. Katie is really turning out to be quite a good cook for her age. She made me scrambled eggs & toast this morning for breakfast. (She had no school today for a teacher in-service.)

Mary - Thank you very much for the e-card. Nice to know you were thinking about me. Keep working on getting that power chair repaired. If insurance won't take care of it, check out churches, special groups (Lion's Club here) and such or special groups for the disabled. Around here these groups often have people who will provide money or actually able to repair items for those that need it. We have several in our area who go to homes and build ramps, repair flooring and purchase items or donate items for those in need. Hope this helps.
