        Blog Cabin 2008: First Look!

        Hello Everyone!

Only days after the joyous giveaway of Blog Cabin 2007 to Joyce Bennett, a few of us were able to travel to the site of Blog Cabin 2008 – and we were blown away!

The first thing that greeted us as we pulled into the lot were two deer only 100 yards away. They took a fleeting interest in us before moving on (too quickly for us to get our cameras ready), but gorgeous Mother Nature was all around us. Although the weather has been dry, the colorful leaves of fall are still trying to hang on.

As we traversed the build site, we were able to capture some shots of the lot and shoreline. As we worked to capture images for a 360-degree tour (coming soon!), we were greeted by two representatives of Lakefront Estates, who filled us in on all the wonderful details of the area. It was a great first impression.

I’ve included a few images from our experience, with the promise that much, much more is coming.

        Warm wishes,
        Watson Hawkins, Manager, DIYnetwork.com

        1. Love your shows. My first question on the green blog cabin is its general location. I would then be able to better judge the weather condions for the area on an average seasonal condition. I watched several informative programs today on green homes containing several different styles of building, heating, and providing a much smaller ECO footprint in general. Do you think you will be able to obtain a “Platinum” rating?

        2. Looks amazing, I sure hope a boat dock and some canoes are in the plans.

        3. Thanks for posting my last comment. I have since found the lot lacation and, like many others, look forward to the progress of the build. I can already picture my wife and I watching the beautiful sunrises with a hot cup of java and listening to the wildlife from the privacy of our screened-in back porch. Perhaps I might even be able to convince her to go sailing occationally (she can’t swim) with the proper equipment.

Somehow you missed the link for “Lakefront Estates” highlighted in orange, that’s in Watson Hawkins blog. It not only gives the location where the 2008 Green Blog Cabin will be built, but other information as well. It’s worth clicking on in his blog. If for some reason you are unable to access that link, post another message so someone can help you. Good Luck. Kathy Seals

        9. Something I seen in the 2007 cabin that most people give any thought to, is handicap accessibility. Being a disabled vetern myself, I’m always looking for things like that.
